yeah...I'm going with "another lie by the MAGA bros for $500, Alex." I'll take the bait: give us the podcast date or social media post where they said that.
Since I follow running and you don't, the funny part is that it probably would have been a better hiring than CU ended up with. (btw, "total lack of respect for background of applicants" is unintentionally hilarious when talking about college cross country and track coaches. Thanks for that). Carlson is a disaster. But that's another argument for another day.
Tell me what Power 5 Athletic Director is going to hire a couple to be co-directors who have never coached a team before and primary qualifications are podcasting and copying and pasting weeks of training into spreadsheets? What was the name of the Powell's youtube channel before they got the UW job?
oh and there's no Power 5, dimwit. That wouldn't matter in the scheme of things, but if Roche made a reference to "Power 5" you MAGA bros would go on for 15 pages about what a fraud and an idiot he is. Keep up, little one.
ah, excellent, the usual deflection I've come to expect. So where's the link to the Roches saying they would have gotten the job, hmmm? I think we can safely assume that was a lie?
Since you only have a few brain cells, let me explain that the comment about "probably better than what CU ended up with" was more a shot at Carlson than a plug for the Roches. That point would have been obvious to a reader with a 6th grade level of comprehension by the "Carlson is a disaster" part. Try to keep up.
Anyway, I'll wait for the link to prove that you weren't lying. Which I'm sure doesn't exist, but I'll pretend for now to go along.
Cool man, I'm sorry this thread is about the Roches and not dedicated to bashing Carlson! There are a few of those threads on this site too, I'm sure you can go find someone who also read Running with the Buffalos one too many times and commiserate over what's become of the program.
I'm merely saying that the Roches' insistence that they were going to become college coaches, and specifically coach the University of Colorado, was a prime example of how delusional and narcissistic they are. If you want proof that they considered becoming college coaches, it's in the 3rd paragraph of David's instagram post from January 11th this year. The reference to UC is buried in a SWAP episode but I'll do my best to track it down for you friend.

Cool, little one. Like I said, you're lying or delusional about them saying they could have had the CU job. Put up or shut up.
This was pretty easy to find - it’s the episode right after Wetmore was fired, 211. Transcript as follows:

“Well, we've been thinking a lot about what we wanna do in life and where we're going and growing. And I think at some point in the like five to 10 year future, we would love to coach a college team.
And that involves a lot of travel and a lot of recruiting. And this is perfect prep. You are like, you could put this on your resume.
You're like, look at my travel.
Yeah. Okay. If anybody has any ins with the, let's say it, the Colorado team, hey, we'd love it.
I think we'd be fun. I think we'd be good. I think we'd win some national championships with lots of love.
Well, actually it would be fun to coach with you because I feel like we bring very different elements to the coaching equation.
How are we different? I think it's a good thing for listeners to know.
Well, I feel like we have different skill sets and the fact like your exercise physiology skill set is so strong and my health and wellness physiology skill set is strong. And so I feel like we combine the two and it covers a lot of running and health[…]”
This thread is a train wreck I can’t stop reading lol.
but in all seriousness, there’s a lot of mental issues going on with DR. The narcissism monster inside him was fed by the win at Leadville because he really “stuck it to the haters” so he got to go on his own podcast and talk about how great he is. So much insecurity there. I truly just feel sad for the kids.
Oh you’re sad your little mean comments are being deleted? Maybe it’s because you’re breaking the rules of the forum? You’re like a middle school bully. I’m glad you’re entertained, I am too. This forum is for entertainment right? You keep doing your thing man, I’m here for it.

This actually isn't the time I was thinking of because I haven't listened to this episode, though I appreciate you finding it! The time I was thinking of the job at the University of Colorado was discussed as a potential exit from SWAP due to the "social media sh_tstorm" they had received in early 2024 via the Spring Energy gel fiasco (when they were rightly criticized online for shilling a product they should have known couldn't have had the amount of carbs it claimed to have).
I have to say. Having been on a D-1 XC and Track team, I cannot imagine the Roche's being respected by any college team. They would be laughed at and ridiculed.

He also talks about how he thinks Walmsley would have ran 14:40 last Saturday, and how he believes he only ran faster this year is because it was cooler. As a runner, my two favorite podcasts of his were the ones the week after his to LV wins. I find it excising to hear how it played out. Probably the reason why those two episodes are his largest listened to. Because most people actually want to hear about it.
My favorite portion of their podcast is when they pick a deeply personal yet also effusively praising email to read from one of their listeners. I think it’s called “butt kiss corner” or something like that.

My favorite podcast so far was their latest. Skidmarks. 😬
Was David Roach drug tested after his latest Leadville win?
Someone can correct me, but I don’t think any North American 100 milers test finishers. western states did for a couple years for top 10 maybe, but I think it’s quietly disappeared (I was not tested after beating David this year). UTMB still tests top 20 I believe.

If you beat David at Western States this year you must be in, what, like 3:55 mile shape???
