Still doesn’t answer the question (not that it was addressed to you). And, you are aware that those “referendums” were entirely bogus, right?
Of course they weren't.
Anyone with the most rudimentary knowledge of the region knows these are Russian people.
Rudimentary knowledge:
According to the 2001 census, ethnic Ukrainians form 58% of the population of Luhansk Oblast and 56.9% of Donetsk Oblast. Ethnic Russiansform the largest minority, accounting for 39% and 38.2% of the two oblasts respectively.[93]
Ethnic Russians a minority in both Donetsk and Luhansk. Looks like your argument has as many holes in at as the Moskva.
The Donbas or Donbass (UK: , US: ; Ukrainian: Донба́с [donˈbɑs]; Russian: Донба́сс [dɐnˈbas]) is a historical, cultural, and economic region in eastern Ukraine. Parts of the Donbas are controlled by Russian separatist groups...
45,000 dead americans a year. every. single. year. Your unregulated vulture capitalism is the worst. You'd be better off copying other capitalist countries OR communist countries, ALL have universal healthcare. The common denominator among ALL countries is universal healthcare, which you lack. but hey, you can kill people in other countries with fake wars.... that way you can also kill americans in america! great logic you have
Average Russian life span: 71
Average US life span: 78
Damn, Russian society must really suck
It's even worse for men in Russia, who have a life expectancy of only 66 years, versus 75 years in the US. 66 years puts Russia in league with some of the poorest 3rd world countries, well behind hellholes like North Korea.
Some time between 10 months from today and 10 years from today, U.S. tax payers will insist our U.S. politicians cut Ukraine off. The poster to whom I responded to last night stated Ukraine is not winning. Poster stated Ukraine could win with our best tanks. I have posted numerous times since October regarding tanks to Ukraine. We all know Ukraine will not get the best U.S. tanks so we will continue to watch Ukraine die slowly. This is awful. President Z can't win, he can lose slowly at best.

Alcohol especially Vodka is a Huge reason for that.

You predicted that Ukraine will no longer exist after March of this year. Now you are saying 10 years. Which is it, scrambled-eggs-for-brains?

eh maybe. There was no push for the US to abandon West Germany or South Korea was there? Most likely outcome of this is a freezing of lines. That becomes a lot cheaper than a constant flow of materiel.
Although I suppose you could argue that with Himars you can't really freeze lines like before - Himars just obliterates dug-in lines.

Again, Russia has been losing territory since March. What do you think Russia is going to do to regain the momentum? Flee from Kreminna?
Personally, I don't think Ukraine is going to get M1 tanks from the US. However, M2 / M3 Bradleys is a possibility (the US has over 6,000 and they were shown to be capable of destroying T-72s during the Gulf War)

Not with results like this. The U.S. taxpayer will be insisting that the U.S. military blow up more Russians for 10 months to 10 years. We smoked between 63 and 400 Russians with four M31 missiles. The ROI on that is measured in exponentials.
Putin is calm calculating likes to take his time Medvedev who is 2nd in charge is more wild and crazy, With Medvedev the Nukes would likely have already been launched, Those hoping for Putin's removal should remember the old saying be careful what you wish for.

Are you in your late 90's? WW2 is before my time. Korean Conflict, before my time. I was in military not too long after Viet Nam Conflict. Served with decorated guys from Viet Nam. Worked in government through first term of W. Best if others do Ukraine Conflict and WW2 & Korean Conflict comparison and contrast.
I feel comfortable calling Balls & Strikes in this conflict.
Regarding words stated by XY: I will await a post from March, if he wants to discuss. I recall being very surprised, March & April how much risk U.S. was taking providing real time target surveillance to Ukraine. I recall being very surprised back in March & April that U.S. was acting as Forward Observer for Ukraine which is an Act of War. Russia has shown much restraint.

And I feel comfortable saying that Russia has shown ZERO restraint (apart from weapons of mass destruction, which would only serve to hasten Russia's demise). Russia hasn't even declared war, so how can the US / NATO providing targeting information be an act of war? Even if Russia decides it is an act of war, what are they going to do about it? Bomb NATO troops in Poland, Germany, elsewhere in Europe? Target a US spy satellite? I'm sure that will end well for Russia...
Russia is being torn limb from limb using second (or third) hand NATO weapons. Russia doesn't want to escalate to the point of actual advanced NATO weapons being employed.

there's a long, long history of Russia and the US accepting proxy warfare even when it toes over the line. Somehow we survived the cold war, vietnam, korea, afghanistan and other proxy wars that sometimes weren't so 100% proxy. RU and the US appear to have some flexibility on this.
You are using an obscure definition of "restraint." Russia invaded Ukraine with around 190,000 troops and thousands of guided missiles and bombs, which is an Act of War.
Your "restraint" theory appears to be that Russia restrained itself by not going with, e.g., 300,000 troops and even more missiles/bombs. I don't think Russia's failures are a matter of restraint, but rather a matter of incompetence, over-confidence, cowardice and/or lack of capability and capacity. I don't even see how restraint even enters the picture at all on the Russian side -- that's the last thing they can blame this pathetic performance on. You need to rethink on restraint.

RU has shown restraint. It hasn't used gas or other unconventional weapons that it could use if it wanted. There's no real reason the government buildings in Kyiv are still standing - RU could hit them tomorrow if it really wanted to, after gassing Kyiv and Odessa.
Mutually assured destruction makes it clear to RU that it will not be fighting NATO troops. And RU knows that the one way to get the RU public 100% onboard the Putin Express is to have Russian boys fighting NATO head to head. NATO knows that too and will stand back.
