These numbers for EVs are starting to get very large. More electrics than diesels now.

The Earth is 4.6 BILLION years old. It has gone through cycles of warming and cooling. To suggest that the Earth is on a path to destruction because the global temps in the last 30 years have slightly warmed is beyond idiotic. It is lunacy.
As George Carlin noted, the Earth will be just fine. The people are eff'ed.
A serious country would cast out these terrible people from public life. The big problem is that the Republican voters REWARD praise of insurrection, lies, undermining democracy and incompetence. Our democracy cannot survive if we put these people in charge.
In the aftermath of Donald Trump’s bid to secure an unelected second term, his former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, in an extensive interview with Tim Alberta, registered her disgust: “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.” According to Haley’s self-exonerating account, Trump had changed in a way she failed to anticipate. “The person that I worked with is not the person that I have watched since the election,” she said. “Never did I think he would spiral out like this … I don’t feel like I know who he is anymore.”
Haley pleaded that she missed every sign — decades of signs — that Trump posed a menace to American democracy. This is an excuse that can only be used once. But now, having admitted she never would have followed Trump had she known where the path would lead, she is prepared to follow him once again. “We need him in the Republican Party,” she told John McCormick in a new interview. “I don’t want us to go back to the days before Trump.”

The underlying problem is in our system and the poor ethical and legal standards. Lobbying, special interest groups, political funding, ridiculously unfair laws causing an even bigger wealth/power gap, and in turn politicians who are simply not working for the people nor the government. The only reason R voters reward the ongoing decline in democracy is because they have been brainwashed and were given scapegoat after scapegoat. The GQP succeeded in deflecting from all governance responsibilities by making the left the open enemy of the right wing base. So it makes sense that Rs will be ok with anything done in the name of owning the libs.
As for the Ds, they are egotistical losers who also don't care about holding the democratic glue together.

word from the Hill is that McConnell blinked and will stop pushing the nation towards default.
Stock market reacted positively immediately.

Might have been getting too close to the sun. If the Rs sink the economy and stocks, 2022 is up in the air and even the filibuster might not be so safe.

ach if only it worked that way and voters could sort out responsibility.
fact is, if Mitch destroys the economy here the Dems would be blamed because they have all three branches of gummint. Mitch knows this and that's what's going on here.
But it's asymmtrical...dems never threaten to destroy the economy to win votes. Mitch is a force for chaos and disorder. As are R voters.
We need those in congress to rise above and be statesmen. They refuse to do it.

That is not gonna happen, so the only thing left is to by all means prevent the GQP from being in control

even when the GOP isn't in control, they use the filibuster to ruin things.
I'd guess around 1/1000 americans understand that 51% votes in the senate gets you nothing.
so the Rs will simply ruin things with the filibuster when the Ds have control and then say 'well hey you were in charge take some responsibility, dems'
and that will make sense to voters who do not understand the filibuster.

Seems that the Ds have ruined things with the filibuster more than the Rs. Republicans are evil.
During the 2019-2020 Congressional term, a record-breaking 328 filibusters were recorded with Democrats in the minority.
