This really is a lot easier than you are making it.
Don't be so simple. In a destroyed Ukraine land and infrastructure will be dirt cheap, which is what the US and the EU are eyeing. A huge new market with cheap labour to top it off.
If the West really wanted to help Ukraine, they would have helped Donbas and Crimea to split away, just like Kosovo. Instead a very concious effort of prolonged destruction of Ukraine is being put in execution, so the Western businesses can plunder Ukraine once it's over.
I also believe, that this is what Russia wants now as well, to compensate losses caused by the war. Donbas is a fat piece of cake for both sides.
