As Zeihan points out in the above video, almost all of the ordinance being supplied from the U.S. is mothballed or surplus from 40+ years of Cold War/war on terror era. The figures given for value are less than the cost of safely destroying them ourselves, so if anything Ukraine is doing us a favor just for that, notwithstanding that they are saving the Western World, as is the case.
I should add that even if $100 billion was paid "retail" (as it clearly isn't), that is one eighth of the annual military budget. A pittance for winning the most important global contest in the last 75 years, with no unnecessary cost in American lives. I call that a bargain, the best we ever had....

WTF? It doesn't say all the 40 billion is given to U.S. companies. It says Ukraine is using some of the money to purchase weapons & ordinances from other countries.
If it was all going to American companies - Congress would have approiated some of the $$$ directly to American companies.

It IS a war of attrition, and Russian forces are being attrited. 1500 of 3500 tanks destroyed or captured. If I had to bet on which side could produce more arms in the next 5 years: NATO or Russia, I would go all in on NATO.
The US keeps sending more and more resources to Ukraine. 10 months ago, the idea of sending Patriot missile battery to Ukraine was inconceivable. Now, it seems likely. So, I think it's hard to say what the US will and will not do.
What do you think Russia will do if they lose 5,000+ men a month? Do you think Russians will to continue to accept that their future is being systematically eroded for nothing?
