Indeed, the plan for Desi worked perfectly. Train to 95% and save her for the main event. Seems Cragg didn't have to go too deep into the well so she should be in a good place too.

Shalane has some work to do, hope she can recover well.

3 talented women on this team is exciting, wish we had a deeper men's field.

It's unfortunate that the men's team doesn't represent 3 x Olympic medal contenders as the women. Less Rupp, why isn't the United States capable of scaling 5K/10K/XC talent to the marathon -- think Bobby Curtis, Sam Chelanga, et al? With all due respect to Meb and Ward, there's no way they'll have the required turnover to compete at the international level. In essence, we have a Superstar and 2 x Brian Sell's on the team. No doubt, today's results should have given folks like Lagat, Ben True, Hassan Mead, Ryan Hill and Garret Heath cause to pause & think: maybe I should have gone for the double as well?

I should have voted because that is the way I saw the race going, although I thought the winner would have been 2:09ish. Also, I think it is kind of disappointing that Amy ran faster than a big chunk of the men's field. I don't think that should happen, she should only beat the 4-5 guys that blow up super bad.

I ran the LA Marathon once. It was so hot on the road I lost a huge part of skin from my big toe to monster blisters.

LA sucks. It was hot for a marathon.

Congrats to Rupp on a great debut! And to Meb for an awesome performance at 40+. He is truly a class act. Smart and tough race by Ward. I respect the 70's style mustache as well.

Congrats also to the ladies; especially Amy FTW. A class act and a hottie, just like her training partner Shalane.

+1...Meb's the most most sponsor-driven, fist-pumping runner in history. I don't get how people fall for this...but folks love him.

Meb was AR holder in the 10000 at 27:13 and has run under 27:25 3 times and has won New York and Boston Marathons breaking a long number of non Americans winning those races, I would not call him "A Brian Sell" who was all endurance and not nearly as competitive in the 10000, not saying anything bad about Sell who got everything out of his ability, just Meb was always more talented, making the team at 40-41 is incredible.

The results at the official website were FUBAR earlier today. No splits yesterday, no discussion of who was where beyond first and second.

AFAICT, there were some very good negative split performances yesterday beyond Women's 2nd place. But, scoring is so broken at the official site it's hard to know for sure.
