Today a nice 60 min easy steady run outside in nice weather + 15 C° , average 6:08 pace . A good day ..... 🧙♂️
I will be 70 next year and ticking over 23's with very little running. Just had a routine scheduled op keeping me out of it. May have a crack next year and send you the result, but I'm not starting a thread about it because it will only be attempted if it is important to me
Well, we are all different personalities.🙏
To me it's an extra boosted motivation to have this thread for my comeback journey to try for a sub 20 min 5 k . And hopefully it helps and can help other old aged runners to find a way to improve their running too. 🙏🖐😎

Maybe you can learn something from this man...

Found his training, 3x a week about 4-6 miles just over 9 minutes per mile.

He was spamming the board with links to his coaching services. He was told that he cannot do that, but as a compromise we allowed him to have a single dedicated thread of his own. Within the last few months, as a reward for good behavior we've allowed him post on many more threads. He deserves it. So there it is.

Really, a monster!
That's awesome. Wonder if he's doing any cross training in between. walking, cycling, swimming, etc. The 70+ fit guys I know are pretty much day in and day out. whether lifting, running, swimming

Went a bit further in his training history, and yes, also great swimmer.
Did his first track workout outside yesterday , or if it was today. I will try to find a race next month 5 k road so I think I will be the first to race .......🏃🧙♂️😎
I had a very good threshold interval 10 x 3 min @ 4:45 pace today. 60-90 sec easy walkrest back to 120bpm. Felt very controlled and easy breathing. The best threshold I've done since I started this comeback. Shape is really coming on now and at the moment it seems I can run around 22:30 5 k . 🧙♂️

Take your pick
1. Vårruset Vänersborg – 7 mei 2026 📍 Vänersborg 2,5 km / 5 km
2. Blodomloppet Uddevalla – 11 mei 2026 📍 Uddevalla 5 km / 10 km
3. TIF Terrängen – 16 mei 2026 📍 Trollhättan 5 km / 10 km

TIF Terrängen is not a flat one ....it's cross-country, will not run that. I've seen there are other options in the end of May . Maybe one of them.

Didn't you say you were in 22:30 shape over one month ago?

The training this week points to I can run a 25 min 5 k now and I will make a try next Saturday to do a TT 5k 25 min

I looked at my quite short time of serious training 6 sessions per week and the fastest I 've done was 300ms interval at 4:48 min/ km, so with my experience of predicting shape and race results doable I decided to go with 5:18- 5:19 min/ km in a 5 k time trial today . So I ran 26:30 min
So to say something is one, execute it, that's a different story
When I did my 18 x 1 min at 22:30 5 k pace I was convinced my shape out from my training sessions results and feeling of effort put in them points to I can run a 5k 22:30 at the moment. 🧙♂️
But you are correct, at least a month ago 5k shape 22:30
