4:17 mile.
A story:
But I have been 132-3 for spells both before and after that result. And running felt shockingly easy, even when I was barely putting in any mileage.
The first time I got lean was the result of a traumatic breakup and I couldn't eat much for months. Even barely sleeping and loaded on cortisol running 40mpw I took over a minute off my 5k in two months. I ran 4:17 much heavier 142ish on 50mpw and pretty mediocre workouts.
The second time I got lean I started cycling a ton and built up running mileage to 25mpw (after six weeks completely off). I never raced or did running workouts during that stretch. I went back UP to 6,000 feet and was immediately running faster workouts than I did before my 4:17 and floating every day.
People say a pound of fat is 2 seconds a mile. From my experience that is true. 5 pounds of deadweight is the difference between running being incredibly easy and a grind most days. I believe if I return to 4:17 fitness and 133 I will be in at least 4:07 shape if that makes sense...
How old are you?
