But is there anything factually wrong in that post?
Not really triggered, but it fit the definition of 'toxic' according to the rules and I wanted to see whether it would fit the mods' definition too. Seems that it did.
In terms of what's factually wrong with it, I'd say that every point it makes is factually incorrect. It's just an angry, scared rant.
They are toxic. Any number of examples would show this. The reason is that it is anonymous with no in-person connection and consequences for what is said. The worst, the angriest, the most bitter, really stand out.
See the thread started today by one of the founders criticizing well respected American runner Molly Huddle for her choice of an airline seat and trying to navigate the post vaporfly running shoe scene.

Go to any larger local 5k and look at the guys lined up at the front. They are mostly skinny, dorky, awkward looking types. They’ve always been overlooked or picked on for most of their life but were able to find someplace in running where they were actually someone. However, they’ve continue to cary the bitterness that comes from being nobody for most of your life.
Those are the people posting on letsrun. Bitter, socially awkward, skinny white males who have spent much of their lives being irrelevant but now have an outlet where they can lash out anonymously.
I think you may have misread my post. The first two examples are from the past 2 months. I only casually searched -- for especially cruel terms -- for a few minutes.

Your original claim about the Outside Magazine article assumed that not a single post was objectionable. I was attempting to counter that claim.
We might disagree about what is or isn't objectionable. I just wanted to be clear about some facts.
Society has become toxic from the breakdown of family and community. All the problems after that, such as the lack of respect for others stem from these issues. The internet acts like a holding space for the losers of society.
The reasoning of leftists on this site confuses me. 99/100 times it’s leftists that complain about the posting here. They cannot control it and enforce their viewpoint, and they don’t know how to deal with viewpoints that differ from their own, or they find to be abhorrent.

The irony is there are countless leftists on this site. They post constantly, trolling and otherwise. They are free to express their view in virtually every case. But that isn’t good enough.
Progressives…let go of the wheel once in a while. So what if someone complains about Kenyan drug positives more than you think appropriate? Or brings up Chicago crime in a way that you consider to be a “racist dog whistle?” Disagree with them. But stop calling for their cancellation.

I agree that there are toxic conservatives. I was only saying that they don’t demand that the site owners censor other opinions. At least not that I’ve seen. It is the leftists on the site who complain daily that there are opinions being expressed some where that they don’t like.
why are the discussion forums on the largest competitive running website so ridiculously toxic? Every thread is filled with hateful, cynical rhetoric, and I honestly can't think of a worse place on the internet. Does anyone have some insight?
