Strange how the worlds most succesfull country sportwise when compared to population hardly has any doping cases. Do you really reckon the Norwegians to be that good in hiding it compared to athletes? Or could it be mainly because of other factors aka culture? I know your stand, but that aint necessarily the objective blueprint ?

Not wading into the doping convo...Clearly this thread title now looks like hyperbole. The 5,000m final was actually hard to qualify for this year and Jakob's youth/inexperience led him to panic and do a textbook DQ. He might be great in a one-off, but let's face it, even with a watered-down field there were 7-8 guys in each heat who could run within 5 seconds of Jakob's PR in a bunched-up tactical type of race. And he's not that savvy a racer just yet.

Norway is not the most successful country sportwise per capita. Many of their top athletes just participate in sports in which few people in the world participate. I love cross country skiing and have great respect for athletic ability of the skiers, but when the entire field of competition hails from a few select countries (and in many cases just parts of those countries), the depth of global talent just simply cannot compare to other sports like running and soccer, which are pretty much played all over the entire world by rich and poor alike.

You apparently don't follow the sport very much. Jakob ran his PB in a tactical race too, with more focus on the distance (and not only one race) he surely could have attacked the european record this year.

He isn't going to "win easily" in the 5k. Only an idiot would consider that remotely possible (he has a *chance* to win, but it won't be easy if he somehow pulls it off)

No matter how good he is, it should be surprising to any sane person if it happens. However we already know that you are not sane, so....makes sense for you to have written that.

It's just idiotic for you to think that he, who just turned 19, can beat all of these very talented, very good, fully adult, and according to you, fully doped runners while clean. Sorry moron, something doesn't add up. The only way for that to be possible would be one or more of the following:

a) doping doesn't really help that much. If so, then why all the fuss over it? Stop talking about it then.

b) these E. Africans are, without PED's, just mediocre runners. Very, very unlikely. They are some of the most talented, hungriest athletes, with complete dedication to running. Or....

c) in reality, most of them are NOT doped. Or....

d) in reality, Jakob is doped too. Or...

e) Jakob is clean, the rest are doped so Jakob is by far the most talented, best distance runner of all time, better than Ryun x Bekele x Coe x Geb x Kipchoge x El G etc, etc. Better than ALL of the the GOATS put together! Yeah....right.

Jakob is either doped, OR.....he is making a mockery of your and others assertions that when mind-blowing times are dropped by young runners (from Africa), then.....those times MUST BE FAKE (i.e., PED-assisted). Because it's impossible to be that fast when clean. If you think Jakob is capable of what he is doing clean, they why couldn't others have done such times at a young age clean, or done even faster when clean? Oh riiiiiiight.....they're black. Got it. Why is that? Kipchoge beat El G and Bekele in WC's 5000, running 12:52 and dropping a 52/53 last lap when he was still 18. Remember that? And of course he has also gone on to run countless incredible performances. And Bekele at 19 won double gold at World X-C, and of course also went on to run performances Jakob can only dream of. Jakob has a looooog way to match guys like that, but you all ready to declare him "an all time great". Oh, but to be THAT good (good as Bekele and Kipchoge).....in your black/white world, it's only possible with doping, correct? But Jakob running something close to that......now THAT is possible when clean...(and white). Got it. How convenient. Idiot.

I like Jakob. I am excited by his awesome running. I wish him well. I hope he does great in these WC's. But his white-power fans like you ruin it all, and almost make me not want to root for him.

OP was right. The organizers are fixing things to ensure Jakob has the best shot of bringing home the gold. Rules be damned!

Years of hard training in the cold makes lots of ppl asthmatic. A current study by WADA will try to close that door for good, but as its legal, whats the problem?

Ofc Norwegian professionals can be doped as well, but they will be seen as outlaws by the society if caught in contrast to most countries where the majoritet doesnt care and believes that everyone else does it anyway so why bother. The fall would be enormous and the chance of getting caught significant larger because of the high frequency of tests.
