To see them raking the young guns a bit here is pretty sweet. To think with all the talent we already had, there was a 13:13 lurking where no one thought to look. There will be a day not to far off I think, where 13:13 at a U.S. meet will not put you on the podium. Cheers to that shit.

Mottram looked pretty good - waited too long to make his move. He still wouldn't have won, but he'd have run slightly faster.
Don't forget the Brits. 2 out of 3 finished and we had one under 14. Things are really looking up.

Abdirahman has now run 13:13, plus a fast early season 10k (27:3x) and a win at US Nationals over Meb (who is an Olympic silver medalist with a 10k PR pretty close to the 26's).
Great season for Abdi so far and certainly looks primed to run well at Helsinki.

Ive been impressed by Abdi this year. He's made big improvements this year, espicially with this 5k pr. He seems like a great guy and I hope he does well in Helsinki! I think I recall him saying that he had really started to take training seriously the past year or so. Looks like its paying off!
Reid Coolsaet is Canadian, won the Canadian Olympic Trials last year in the 5k. He didn't run a ton in high school was an 8:53 3k runner coming out of high school (with an extra year as Ontario had at the time). Went to the University of Guelph which is affiliated with the Guelph National Endurance Centre,has consistently improved over the past 7 years, he is 26.

Actually, despite the initial buzz about Kennewick Man (a 10,000 year old skeleton found in Kennewick Washington in 1996) being European in descent because his general skull shape seemed more European than Asian, further research that has closely examined his skeletal remains instead of just the general head shape has shown that his remains definitely resemble those of Asian people. Specifically, some see a very close link between him and the Chukchi Eskimos of Siberia and the Ainu of Japan. Those certainly are not the only theories out there. Go ahead and google "Kennewick Man Origin" and I'm sure you'll find a bundle of different theories (of varying levels of credibility). Admittingly, there is an exciting mysteriousness to the idea of people of European descent somehow making their way across North America thousands of years before the Vikings ever made it to the eastern edges of Canada. But the fact remains, scientific support for a European Kennewick Man is basically extinct. I know this is way off topic, but I thought I'd attempt to gently correct those who still believed Kennewick man to be European.
Of course, I've failed to mention the most important fact about K-man: HOLY COW! He looks exactly like Patrick Stewart!

After watching the athletics last night, which I thought was fantastic with many highlights, I thought I'd check up on the board to see what others had to say. And you just get the usual letsrun epo bullshit. Just to restate the letsrun rules of epo:
- All non-africans who are good are on epo.
- All afrians who are good are on epo, but for some never explained reason there's a conspiracy to protect them and make sure third world countries dominate distance running.
- Any significant improvement in performance can only be attributed to drugs.
- Any significant drop in performance is because they were on drugs but now aren't.
Screw this board, I'm done with it.
