I think it is ok for Rojo to set the rules of this thread. It is the same thing a moderator of a debate would do to keep th participants on point. Rojo wants people to discuss the Nike decision to run this add, and not discuss CS as an individual.

On the other hand, if someone started another thread discussing how you would define Castor's sex, that would be fair game for discussion. I would disagree with letsrun if they deleted that other hypothetical thread just out of a spirit of censorship.

Virtually, everything above is factually incorrect.

1) Since winning the World title in 2009, Semenya has competed every single year, running at least 6 800s every year.

2) No one confirmed she was "female." Since gender is based on identification, how is that even possible? That being said, I'll bet you $100,000 to your $10,000 that she is xy chromosonally.

The "It's unfair to be 6'6" argument doesn't apply to women's atheltics which is a special category of athletics.

My brother and I were born the way we are as well. Do you want Weldon to be the WR holder in the women's 10,000 ? It blows my mind that people think I'm being a bigot for saying someone with xy chromosones and (internal) testicles shouldn't compete in women's athelitcs without treatment. If Bruce Jenner had switched her name to Caitly in 1976, do you think she should have been allowed to compete as a woman?

You think someone saying "don't monkey this up" (which is a common phrase) when referring to socialist policies regarding the economy, is actually a racist dog whistle. This is because when you hear the word "monkey," you think of black people. The supposed racist dog whistle only works on your ears because you are the racist.

Semenya doesn't compete in private. She races against women who don't have any disorders of sexual development. Your respect for privacy is irrelevant.

You do realise that Caitlin Jenner is transgender and Caster Semenya is not don’t you? And that these are completely different? You do realise that Caster grew up in an impoverished environment and was raised as a girl despite what I could only image would have been pretty tough conditions.

How do you know Caster has internal testicles and XY chromosomes? Oh, that’s right, you don’t...... At best the public can say she has suspected hyperandrogenism and that she was born with this condition. I can’t say this for sure as I am not one of her treating doctors.

I’m not quite sure what the “special category of athletics” comment means sorry so can’t reply to that one.

She was “withdrawn from competition” from early 2009 until the second half of 2010, at which time she was allowed to compete again as female.

I would imagine that the horrendous treatment she has endured over the years would have a negative effect in performance. Statistically her times are not that huge an outlier within the sporting community and there are a number of examples of athletes out performing their peers by greater margins than Caster.

Nike well know's their "Why," their company history, brand story, their DNA. Innovate, Rebel if needed, revolutionize if needed. As the 35+Bn dollar founder on the Board, Phil Knight, rest assured has an active say in the stewardship of his company.

I agree with this and saw the same publications.

What don't get and don't agree with is that most people in the world would identify such individuals as not being female, thus I don't get the threats to remove postings that say so. IMHO that is blocking the truth, and is one of the factors that has served to prolong this issue, to the great detriment of women and women's athletics. Perhaps that restriction can be reconsidered, so people can speak the truth and help this issue to be resolved, instead of continuing due to issues of semantics.

Certainly I agree with whatever people wish to call themselves.

Likewise people should have the right to call a tomato a tomato, and a potato a potato.
