Can someone tell me why we should be outraged if Donald Trump Jr actually had gotten dirt from the Russians?

Yes, ^This. The big picture here is Russia illegally invaded a sovereign country using lies and deceit in 2014. They annexed part of that country and continue to kill people in an independent country (Ukraine) to this day. They also shot down a civilian jet and killed hundreds of Dutch citizens during their war of aggression in Ukraine. As a result, the US and the world condemned these actions and placed appropriate sanctions on Putins thuggish regime. Russia continues to behave in an aggressive fashion towards the US and our allies. It would be bizarre at this point to lift ANY sanctions on Russia yet the Trump administration has tried to do this despite no concessions from Russia and no agreement on Russia's part to leave Ukraine and Crimea or answer for their misdeeds.

The Trump administrations willingness to play nicey-nice with the Russians in exchange for nothing material in return is incompetent at best and treasonous at worst. Very poor negotiation skills on display by Trump & Co. here. Sad!

The sad thing is, there are politicians staying out of trouble and doing the boring policy work regardless of party affiliation and they don't end up getting any special consideration for it.

Agree with all of this, and to expand further, Russia is an imperialistic, expansionist state and has been throughout its history. Putin, at his core, is Russian nationalist, whose overriding goal is to expand the territory and influence of Russia. Anyone who believes otherwise is just naive.
