New Doping News on Alberto Salazar in Sunday Times

Catching up on the thread, the evidence about the infusions >50ml is described as follows:

"They (USADA) worked this out from documents showing the prolonged time of infusions, large increases in L-Carnitine in athletes' bodies and a written record of how much L-Carnitine was prepared ahead of one infusion"

"At the time this newspaper also asked Rupp whether he had received an infusion of L-C and he responded 'The first time I tried L-C was in mid 2011 as a drink and I stopped taking it in 2012. I did not get infusions or injections in 2011. I found no benefit so I stopped using it.' The USADA report describes Rupp's statement as 'false' and 'seriously misleading'. It adds 'Rupp, in fact, received an infusion on January 5th 2012, in an amount USADA believes may have exceeded the 50ml limit and may therefore have constituted a doping violation"

In all of these NOP doping threads, all of the posts crying "false alarm" stop when the US west coast goes to bed. Are those posters:

1) Nike employees; or,

2) A PR firm paid by Nike; or,

3) Alberto's son, posting from his dad's basement?

I never heard this but I do know that Hanson and Salazar are close so it wouldn't surprise me.

USADA Statement Conclusion

Can you tell me that Nike Labs didn't share this info with other Non Alberto athletes? Especially those training and utilizing the same facilities and services?

Alberto is guilty but so are many others. This is AW all over again.

The state medical board should be able to view patient medical records to determine if doctors' treatments were in violation of state rules and regulations. I am GUESSING that this is Texas based on the issues surrounding the Houston doctor from this past summer. But I do not have access to the London newspaper articles and have not read the leaked documents either. So that is just a guess.

Regardless - the state medical board investigating any of its licensed doctors will not be obligated to turn any patient medical records over to USADA and in fact, should probably be obligated to keep the patient records confidential. Again, I do not know which state medical board is performing the investigation, but I would imagine that it will be very difficult for USADA to gain access to these records through a back door created by a medical board's investigation.

With the Lance Armstrong investigation, USADA was able to gain a mountain of documents through a back door because they were either part of a public record or turned over voluntarily to USADA.

Since Ritz's best distances have always been from 3000m to 5000m there's nothing to ponder about.

Note that Farah is now all over the Net, proclaiming that he hasn't broken any rules. Not once does he deny taking the injections or intraveneous doses. Wouldn't that be the simple answer to make this go away ?

I'm not familiar w/L-Carnitine as an IV dose or what is required to be a safe dose but anytime you have IV meds, you have to mix it w/either saline or LR. Not sure if the L-Carnitine came in a powder vial or liquid. Either way it would have to be mixed and 50ml sounds about right for an ivpb followed w/flushing fluid bag which could be a 500-1000mL bag. Just thinking out loud.

But since the report mentioned "prescription vitamin D", I am wondering if it was actually calcitriol, which is an active form of vitamin D. Calcitriol is by prescription only and is typically given to people on kidney dialysis to keep PTH levels down.
