The weight to height ratio's generally quite a bit higher in swimming than it would be for 5'8" / 124. If she were actually that weight, with that leanness, she'd look borderline skeletal.

Having that physique as a 400m swimmer sort of looks like if Genzebe Dibaba had Christine Ohuruogu's build.

Is anyone skeptical about Ledecky? Comes from wealthy family with plenty of insider sports connections. Literally dominating the sport like no one before at an incredibly young age.

What rich person would want their daugher/niece to be a walking science experiment who could get badly sick and die at 40? It happens all the time in bodybuilding and probably happened to Flo Jo.

So Ledecky's not doping because she's rich? That's about as strong as the argument that Hosszu IS doping because her husband carries on like a tool.

To be fair it's not much of a risk. PEDs at the level that Olympic athletes take them don't really have a significant impact on your odds of sudden death, a decade after you stop taking them. FloJo was an obvious juicer, but whatever killed her was probably congenital. If she had died of liver cancer, that might be a bit more believable as a steroid-induced death after the fact.

Bodybuilders die suddenly because of the whole combination of things that put huge stress on their bodies. As contests approach, they take steroids in much larger quantities than Olympic athletes, plus a whole cocktail of other stuff including diuretics. All the while eating a meager diet and still training hard. It's that combination of starvation/dehydration/brutal workouts/drugs that does them in.

Ledecky's path to prominence seems more like that of Bolt, in that she was already good as a teen, and progressed from "good" to "friggin' amazing." Hosszu's seems more like FloJo's, with a long period of mediocre followed by an explosion of "holy shit." Of course, that doesn't mean that Ledecky (or Bolt) aren't on the dope.

Fixed her stroke mechanics, specifically her backstroke. Got serious about dry land workouts. Cut out the sweets from her diet. Decided to race more instead of long bouts of training.

Also who cares if her husband has muscle and he cheers for her?

I cheer for my wife all the time and I lift weights.

Lastly Hungary has a really rich aquatics history. Swimming and Water Polo. Their youth system is fantastic.

Her husband is also verbally abusive to her, as acknowledged by both of them. If ever there was a situation ripe for doping...it's hers.

No, she'll live long, like those Chinese and German dopers who are now like 60 or 70. Happy and keeping their medals because no one could prove they were doping.

No I meant that she was a minor until fairly recently and has an alleged independtly wealthy uncle. Her parents/ uncle would have to be maniacs to get their daughter/niece on PED's. Of course stranger things have happened.

That's so stupid. The more resources an athlete has, the more secure they feel about doping. Probably due to the fact that 1) they have resources for legal protection 2) suppliers/enablers are probably financially invested and/or have their hands dirty as accomplices 3) if they get caught, they have a whole network and treasure trove of resources to fall back on
