Agree that Centro didn't look great. Between getting outkicked by Murphy last week and getting stomped tonight, I don't know if he's in great shape. Even at Trials, you could see Andrews gaining on him over the last 50m. Hard to consider him a medal contender after a string of races like that...

He would have to be in way better shape than he has EVER been in his life to be a medal threat with the Kenyan squad of Kiprop, Kwemoi and Manangoi along with Iguider, Mahkloufi, and Willis.
Remember the Kenyans went 1-2 in the WC and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they got 2 of the top 3 spots again.

Every athlete at the TrackTown Summer Series will go home with some money in their pockets. Prize money details are here. Money is paid six deep in each event ($225,000 in total prize money — $11,500 per event x 20 events), plus athletes get appearance money based on where they were drafted (there are 35 athletes on 4 teams so that is $96,00o in appearance fees), plus $35,000 for the members of the winning team ($1,000 each). That makes a total of $356,000 in prize money and appearance fees spread across 140 athletes. (We’ve seen mention of $500,000 in prize money and that is what the Register-Guard said today but don’t think that figure is accurate. For reference, Diamond League meets have $480,000 in prize money across 16 events plus appearance fees.)

That "black dude" is Jordan Kent, by the way. If you follow U of O running, he was in HS the Oregon State champ in 100, 200, 400 and LJ. Not world class perhaps, but a good athlete. Moved to football and was drafted by the Seahawks.

Overall it seems really poorly conceptualized and organized. Eugene is overrun and taxed..people came out for Pre, then for Oly Trials...they aren't coming out to see B-lists. Really poor execution. People pitched this and the people bought it. Total loss, I'm sure. But this is NIKE. Eugene. No vision. No breadth. Cheese.

I think Centro at his best (maybe summer 2015?) would have to be listed among the favorites for a medal in a championship-style race like the Olympics. When he's fit, he's got the wheels to beat any given guy on any given day, with the exception of maybe Kiprop. I don't think a silver or bronze was beyond the realm of possibility before this latest string of races.
Centro ran 1:47. Usually to medal, you have to close the final 800m in 1:49, even off a good initial pace. Entirely possible, as he'll be tapered. But still a tall order.
