Pat Porter is no 6' 4". Maybe 6' 1" at the tallest. He just always looked tall because in his peak years he only weighed about 130 pounds, roughly a third of what he checks in at now at the height of his new career, contracting.

Is Porter really that big now? Not that there's anything wrong with that. =)
Yes well shorter "levers" also mean shorter muscle attachments, meaning taller people apply force longer than shorter people.
Also taller people tend to have longer limbs even for there size, longer "levers" means longer tendons and muscles, which mean more energy storage, thats why i think, that Halie, was able to "power" himself around a track(were you dont need to apply force over any amount of time as you are wearing spikes) faster than Tergat. But, Tergat is able to "float" over 1/2 marathon , marathon distances abit faster.
But in both cases the diff. is VERY small, i dont think it matters much.
Jeez, ghost, the argument about levers was already addressed. Do your homework, go back and read all the posts. Your argument has already been brought up and shot down. Nonsense.

He's missing the obvious. The numbers of fast or good soccer playing 6+ footers are going to be fewer simply because there are fewer 6+ footers in the general population. I don't see any evidence from the examples presented by Ghost that height has anything to do with success in running or soccer.
Good point. I believe that 6+ footers are way overrepresented in sports.

Damn you guys are light. I´m 6feet and 182lbs. I used to run 800m in high school (PR 1.54 at 170lbs). Now I run marathons (PR 2.34 at 180lbs). I´m 26 y.o

6'2", 170-175 lbs. Medium frame. Been running a long time. Long legs and good runner's bod, like I ought to be a hell of a runner. I can't run for shit. I have no idea what my ideal weight is. No faster than I am, it wouldn't make much difference.
Ghost, where are you now? Are you still in the Mansfield area?
I am 6-2. Right now during "winter weight" I am between 165 - 170. During summer and fall I am down to 160 or so.
Schoolsy
5'11 170 lbs. Strong upper body from swimming past. Defined abs so body fat % is low I'm just stronger than a lot of runners I guess.
Would probably be faster if I lose some muscle though.
