That's not true! She is a registered athlete with Aldershot, Farnham & District until 31.03.2017. Although that is not what she alleged in AW.

Could someone please explain how the club system works in the UK? Are athletes required to be members of clubs to compete? What does it mean to be a member of a club?

I remember a while back seeing that Farah was a member of some club in England, although he trains in the US with NOP.

To the other guy, in the UK athletes tend to run for a club. For certain competitions athletes need to be registered with a UK athletics club (and pay your subscription fee each year). There are hundreds of these, you don't have to train with them or even live nearby.

I don't think anyone enjoys the on-track 10k except for Almaz Ayana. It needs to be shifted to a road race at WCs and Olympics.
