Can you all please read my post? And then note that 300m in 60 sec is the pace that one is running for a 10:40 2-mile. This is really, really hard for even fit adult males - it counts as a "speed" test!
(Since we all seem to be checking credentials, yes, I've run under 10 for 2 miles myself. Didn't get there in high school, and at most 2-3 guys in my school of 1500 students did, but I easily did in college and awhile thereafter. These days, as a 35yo running 40mi/week and weekly speed workouts, I can barely dip under a 12:00 2-mile. I do most of my training runs around 7:00 pace, and go weeks at a time without seeing another runner anywhere near my speed. Those of you who are only training with clubs and/or school teams need to take off your serious blinders. Running is not easy for most people.)
