Bekele took the easy way out, but people are saying on here "this is smart; that was smart" because they worship Bekele, but Mo running in an actual, competitive race with the best in the world -- that takes guts and I give him a lot of respect for that. I hope he does go under Bekele for that reason alone. Aren't the people who run this site and others talking about "good for the sport, good for the SPORT" etc, etc...so it should be acknowledged that what Mo is doing is much more exciting/better "for the sport"
They both contribute to the sport, marathonning is better then ever.
Mo is not in London because he like to race, he is there because of $$$. I he could choose a race he would choose a other course.
He can be happy if he end up 5th, 2.6.40 is the maximum he can do.
This doesn't mean that Mo isn't a great runner because he is.
He is really great. to double a 5 and 10k is big.
The marathon however is a different ballgame.
Kenny has changes to get a WR o a Marathon, Mo is just there for a one time trial and then he will have to get back to the 5-10k, reaching the goals Kenny already reached. For Kenny there is nothing left to achieve other the getting a WR on the Marathon. This doesn't mean MO couldn't step up in the future for this. but that is far future talk.

Farah has every intent to win this race. If he's not on pace to win and/or run under 2:06:30, there's no way he'll finish. It just isn't worth it for him. I believe he will win and/or run under 2:06.
This is one of the biggest races or Mo's career as it it in London and has been hyped. You can bet he'll be 100% ready. Salazar will have orchestrated an unbelievable endurance base and the exact blood values he wants to virtually guarantee a fast time.

Question 1. If Mo had run Paris, would he have beaten KB? My answer: there's a chance that he coulda stayed with KB and kicked, but I would rather bet on Bekele getting too far away.
Question 2. If Mo gets broken by the leaders and they break away, what will he run? My answer: I think he carefully sets his own pace, doesn't blow up, and finishes in pretty well in the 2:06 range.

So prediction of 4th-5th in 2:06, basically faster than all the guys who blow up but not able to match the moves made by the leaders.

I am sure the same is true for the Marathon. There will be a million people on the streets in London and every single one of them will cheer for Mo.

Mo is not a marathon runner and will never be. He'll end like Tadese maybe even worse. His running style and whole racing attiude ist not what you need for marathon racing.It's a different game. Watch his half marathon performance. Not good enough for the big boys
Slim to none. Probably a better chance of Mo being hit by a meteorite during the race than debuting that fast. I'm sure he'll finish the race in front of the home crowd unless he's seriously hurt. I can see him pulling a Meb and running someone else in. Hasn't shown himself to be type of runner to go after a time like Bekele who's been doing it for 12 years now, and even if he were, very doubtful he's near Bekele as far as fitness goes at this point.
We really haven't seen anything from Mo indicating the enormous amount of aerobic strength it takes to run 2:05 or lower, so the 2:06 range seems like a reasonable prediction.
No. I don't think it is impossible, but Jos Hermens has set a very high target.
It's difficult to predict a time for a debut. 2:05 is perhaps within Farah's capability, but 2:07 is more likely. It will, of course, also depend on the weather, the level of competition, the pace makers, and whether or not Farah thinks he should try to win the race.
