The moat is closed off completely, the course now involves that stretch of road that leads from the college loop to snake, I believe that is basically where the start is now? not positive about the finish.
They've had kind of a while to sort out the old course since Sandy, no sure why they didn't.
Mary Cain will not be running cross-country this fall, so I suppose the Baxter-Cain comparisons will forever be theoretical.

This implies she will not train under Salazar. Did the writer mean "Cain will not run cross-country season for her high school team and will continue to train under coach Alberto Salazar"?

I cannot watch the video but if Cain doesn't run cross country...it is not theoretical...Baxter should be considered a better high school cross country runner...anything else is shouda woulda coulda baloney.

I don't know how you got a definitive answer that she will not be running cross country from that article.
In addition, the article states:
“Keep it fun,” Salazar said. “Also keep the pressure and expectations as low as possible.”
Entering high school cross country races should be fun for her and expectations are much less for her in cross country than in track. So I wouldn't rule out cross country for her this year.
maybe cain is better than baxter at cross now, maybe not. When they last raced it wasn't the case, and that should be the standard until they race again. Head to head competition history trumps all in cross country. Speculation is only needed when there is none.

Have to agree with this, but they may as well had landmines on that course last year, it was completely ridiculous.

What are we all going to do if Cain never runs another HS race and Baxter decides that competitive running was a fun HS activity that she doesn't want to continue with in college?

She didn't run cross country for her high school last year, either. That didn't stop her from running cross country races, including the NXN series.
We'll find out if she's going to race in another couple of months. I'm still guessing she'll run the NYRR race @ VCP, and then the NXN meets, as she gets ready for indoors.
If Cain does not run cross country, Baxter would still be considered a better high school cross country runner.

I suspect the above is the work of a troll, but in any case, the opposite is true. In cycling, one sees this more dramatically. Riders who are mediocre in flat stage races and time trials because of their relative lack of power (Read: speed, fast-twitch muscle fibers) often dominate "in the mountains" because of their resistance to fatigue.
