12:58 isn't other worldly at 38 for a guy who ran 3:26 and has always been quality over quantity to extend his career. Furthermore, Lagat has said himself that he can't screw around like he used to and everything he does now is focused on recovering and running fast. So he is showing his age.

He can run 12:58 because he is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, middle distance runner ever.

He is much more than 4-5 seconds off his 1500m PR in less than 15 years later. Come on man.

The BL and RJ comparison is ridiculous because, like everyone has pointed out, BL has gradually gotten slower while RJ was running PRs. Don't give me this crap about "insane performance for that age". That's weak. He's gotten slower every year. Sorry he hasn't slowed as quickly as you find to be this worldly.

How rife is doping? I don't know - I'd say an average of 2 of the top 10 in the world at any time are doping if I had to ballpark it.

Bernie had braces to close a small gap in his lower jaw he always had. End of story. Nothing more to see. No broadening of the jaw. Nothing whatsoever.

I was shocked to find out that my dad was using HGH when he got braces at 40. After all, as posters like TLW and Zat0pek have told us, anyone who gets braces after 18 is doped. Never mind that he had a gap in his teeth his whole life -- on Letsrun, you can simply ignore facts that dispute your opinion -- or that there is literally no proof that HGH improves performance. If someone asks you why an athlete would use a drug that's been shown to DECREASE endurance, just call him an idiot.

Yes Lagat had braces to close the gap in his bottom teeth. HIs jaw looks the same as it ever did. Much unlike Dwayne Wade. Here's a pic of Lagat before braces
