Sprint Wheezer, you must have the biggest case of sour-grapes that I have ever seen on Letsrun. Where are you anyway? I may be wrong, but from your writings, I assume you're trolling from Canada. Lets see..."Craphole" medal count = 4 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze and the only WR for the entire championships.Canadian medal count = 1 Silver for shot-putOk, I kinda see why you're so pissed, but come on??? Anway, you need to brush up on your knowledge of Jamaica. There are many categories you listed which I could refute but I'll leave you in your ignorance. Take mining for example...Source: http://www.nationsencyclopedia.com/economies/Americas/Jamaica.html"Bauxite and alumina, raw materials used in the production of aluminum, are the country's main exports. During the 1960s Jamaica was the world's largest producer of bauxite, a position it held until the 1980s. Today, Jamaica is the world's third largest producer of bauxite, after Australia and Guinea, and has estimated reserves of more than 1.9 billion metric tons." According to your lemmings, Jamaica should also have some of the best scientists in the world, since they have managed to outdope the worlds most "developed" nations. Warfare? - You think that's something to be proud of???"Many of those people in high places in the US have Jamaican heritage.", ah, in a word, no."Ummm..YES! Colin Powell is one who might differ...

The stupid race card can only be played so many times before it loses all meaning. It's totally ridiculous at this point.
The "most recognizable small country in the world"? I don't know about that, it may be true, although I suspect that Kuwait is much better-known, and has the same population (I think). Jamaica is certainly on the map, though, because of Bolt.
I'm not belittling Jamaica, I'm stating how it is. I notice you haven't taken issue with any of the "facts" I wrote. You know why? Because they are true. Like I said in the earlier post, there is nothing wrong with Jamaica being good at what they are good at--which is, essentially, sprinting, reggae, drugs and alcohol.
Jamaica punches above its weight in most things? Such as? Literature? Art? Science? Medicine? Technology? Manufacturing? Social theory? Pedagogy? Astronomy? Law? Feminism? Democracy? Human rights? Industrial design? Lingistics? Economics and commerce? Warfare? Mining? Engineering? Dance? Viticulture? Philosophy?
And "Many of those people in high places in the US have Jamaican heritage.", ah, in a word, no.
Look, I'm not dissing Jamaica, but you have to see it for what it is--mostly a craphole, with some "nicer" resorts, lots of poverty and violence, almost no infrastructure, weak social and educational systems, but with some beautiful people who are stuck in a rut for one reason or another, mostly as a result of those of their compatriots who aren't quite so beautiful. That's why there's so many Jamaicans living in New York and Toronto, and not in Jamaica.
Sprinting gives them hope, and that is a good thing.
Again, what are you doing your "postgraduate" work in?
