I don't know where that comes from. Pre would say if you have enough enegy to make gestures when finishing a race; you didn't run hard enough.
I do agree that Pre was badass. He didn't need to draw attention to himself or be disrespectful to his fellow competitors to show it.

You are a stupid ass arent you? Pre won hundreds of races and I have never seen him make some gesture that offends most people. So lets not speculate, it makes you look stupid.
In the day and age of "look at me" athletics.....a throat slit should be about 46th on the list of things to draw attention. Its not new, its not cool.
The ncaa should take a hard look at this and determine if he should retain his scholarship.

As a parent and coach, I go with the “act like you have been there before” philosophy. You prove your point running with your legs during the race. You don’t add any value but strutting, yapping and gesturing at your competition after the fact.

I could care less what this kid does. Listen, hes never going to do anything noteworthy on the post-collegiate stage so let him have his fun now.
Changed it to "possibly more," Yeah, over-reaction at first. There should be future consequences. Also, corrected the spelling of his name. I'll stand by the rest. Comments are allowed. I realize others have differing opinions.
If he didn't run for Lanana and Oregon he would have been disqualified. It's as simple as that. They get more leeway than others because track and field wants/needs Oregon to be successful in the distances. In the NBA he would have been assigned a flagrant foul. If it were NCAA football he would have been given a 15 yard penalty (remember the Texas Tech (or maybe A&M) bowl game last year that was decided on an unsportsman-like conduct penalty. I call bs on him not being disqualified. Kids 15-25 years old need to be taught that there are consequences for acting like a jerk. You don't just get to do whatever you want because you won an NCAA title. I also call that Centro is completely overrated and is a total tool. If he makes ANY impact in the professional ranks I will completely shocked.
On an interesting side note, if it were Rupp who had pulled this move the thread would be no less than 10 times longer.
So if this is unsportsmanlike, then what do we do about Usaine Bolt celebrating 40 meters before the finish in Beijing? We call him a true showman who has brought much attention to track and field.
