13:36 is good, but still well behind the 5K AR held by Marc Davis.

Keep in mind that the USA is arguably the strongest nation now in middle distance, and with Wheating, Lomong, and Manzano, 3:32.xx might not be good enough to secure a spot on the US team next year. Whether he has the kick he's going to need is seriously open to question. Any 13 second 100s with 700 meters to go in the US Champs next June, and he'll be a spectator.

Take a look at the top lists, men and women, particularly in the 1500. Making the US team next year isn't going to be anything like what Webb saw in 2007.

Solid race by both of Salazar's guys. But more importantly, what shoes are Webb and Rupp wearing?

I was there today, and it was a blast to watch. After the first lap it became clear that it would be a battle for 3rd. Rupp led up to almost 3M, then Webb took over. He really dropped the hammer on Rupp, who showed great weakness when the lactic acid began to build. Webb looked confident during his warm-up as did Rupp, but Webb had a strong presence that said he was ready to compete.

The race for third was on, between Horn and Bauhs. The final lap was thrilling with Estrada and Smith really moving up. All in all, the people who I think excelled the most were the 5k\ miler types vs. the 5k/ 10k/ marathon types.

The rest of the field looked great--Gotcher, Reyes and other marathoners come to mind, tho you could tell that they were not accustomed to a fast rhythm. Truly a fun race, and a blast for me to watch Rupp race in person for the first time. Look for this race to become a faster 5k in the future.

I seriously doubt he had any lactic acid build up.

I'm rooting for Webb as much as anyone but can we all calm down, it was a turkey trot (admittedly a very fast one) but still it is november lets wait at least a few months before we start the "is Webb the greatest thing ever or a failed hope debate".

Haha calm down buddy, no need to half curse. That kind of comment is no different than people saying Ritz should stick with the shorter distances after running 12:56 and 27:22 instead of doing the "planned" marathon. Did everyone no Ritz could run those times as well? And come on, no one had ANY idea that Webb was going to run this. People predicting Webb to run 13:06 were just dreaming and hoping he didn't drop out of this 5K like the last one.
