Yup... think about it for a sec... he runs 45 points in Feb/May. One as a 16 year old. Lets say that for whatever reason he'd focus on the 400m throughout the season, I say 44 low easy for a guy who ran that fast at that young of age. A age where endurance isn't exactly easy to come by unless you were born with it...
Bekele would get dusted in this match up.

45.54 in February... I doubt that Wariner would go that much faster than that in Feb. I'm willing to bet Bolt could go 44.0 fully peaked off (July/August) off of 100m/200m training. There's no way he'd lose to Bekele over 600m. During my college years, my team's 400m runners (45.x/46.x/46.x) would go through 48.x in route to 61/62.x 500m indoors. I don't doubt that Bolt could go through that outdoors and hang.
bolt would not be accelerating at the end of a 600 unless he goes out easy. If he goes out easy, then he and bekele are close at 400. either way bolt will probably be tightening up at the end. kb could try to go out hard if he suspects ub goes out easy (what am I talking about?) and then to sustain the effort. but if bolt goes hard-i'm telling you, that man would be trying hard to maintain speed in the end, no acceleration, guaranteed. I think in any scenario Bekele is going to behind him the entire way until the end. At 550 if Bekele can get his rapid acceleration thing going (and it works) and bolt is not accelerating, kb nips him at the line. Come on, I can see it now (because I want to).
I can't believe I just took time to not only think those implausible scenarios out, but then to type it. like I know what would happen. I'm voting for kb.

Whether or not if he ran 11.x in that race, I believe he could have. In his Beijing 10k, his 3RD TO LAST 100m was a 12.5 and he still ran 200 quick meters after that, so I'm sure if it'd been his LAST 100m, he could have used what energy would have been spent in the last 200m to go 11.X.

Is it only 'cause he maybe lost concentration since he ran the entire race by himself? or is it because he's speedier than everyone gives him credit for? Also, his matches against EL G that he lost, he was doubling the 5k/10k and still didnt lose to EL G by more than a hair so he's just as speedy as EL G who surely is under 50.

Bekele accelerates off of a aerobic pace, lets see him do that in a anaerobic race. Remember that the 800m is close to being 50/50 in terms of aerobic/anaerobic, the 600m is 25% shorter. Bekele would be in lactic acid heaven at 500m, Bolt as a decent 400m man -- evident from his 400m times from both past and present -- should be more accustomed to that.
I see it as:
Bolt goes through in 47.5, 500m in 60.0, finishing in 1:14. He'd be dying but holding form at the end.
Bekele is probably 48.5 -- but more likely 49.5 -- at best. If he goes through in anything faster than 50, he'd be tying up before he gets to 500m; not to mention that he'd fall apart faster AT THAT SPEED than a muscularly strong Bolt. So realistically his best shot is to treat the race as a 800m with a fast start and hold it to the end. So I'm thinking for him that'd be 51 low; he wouldn't accelerate off of that pace but most likely slow down slightly to a 26.x
Bekele doesn't go any faster than 1:16.5 in any way imaginable (=1:42.0 800m pace, and I imagine him going 1:44.5 over 800m at best).
Bolt goes as fast as 1:13.5 with 43.5-44.0 400m potential in the future, evident from his 45.3 as a 16 year old. He is built for up to 500m when train for the long sprints, but falls apart at 600m (1:13.5 vs. 1:12.8WR by Gray). Wheels fall off if ever attempts a fast 800m.

But he is know for being a bit speedy! If he has run 24 flat in a mid way split near the end of a 5km, he can definitely put 2 together from fresh to beat 50.
His best last lap is 52.68 by the way
Everyone is getting carried away with Bolt over 600m. If it were any other 45.5 guy would we be getting so carried away
His training in winter is probably more suited to 400m than what he does in summer also

seriously, if starting blocks are not used, kb has a better chance. or what if the race were a 600 that followed a slow rolling 200. So they really run 800, but race the last 600. know what do you say sprinters?

HAHAHAHAH... Bekele is nowhere near Bolt at any point during the start of the race -- in fact, he'd never be near him at any point of the race. You got to be stupid to think Bekele could be as explosive as ANY sub 10 man -- let alone the most talented sprinter to ever race.
You could start Bekele out of rocket-powered blocks and force Bolt to do a cartwheel before he started running, and Bolt would STILL be ahead at 50m. So let's say Bekele can run 11.00 for 100m (and that is being generous). Bolt is still over 1.3 seconds ahead of him--that's over 13 meters at that pace. Don't kid yourself. We are talking about the fastest human being to ever set foot on this earth.

Actualy I have an interesting story about this. I knew a coach who won the English National Cross country a very lng time ago (Walter Heketh). He challenged a 100m international to a sprint race up a steep hill. Well he set off and was amazed to leave the sprinter behind. He turned round and saw the sprinter doubled over...p*ssing himself laughing.
