Who are you?

So then you don't.
No, actually I do.
I'm sure you believe that.

Kara is not white!!!
Bingo!
Kara ran great. She beat a lot of great runners.
E. Dibaba
B johnson
Deena Koster
etc.,
Sure the race had some weird twists ... but she was in shape at the right time in the right conditions. She is not exactly bronze medal talent. But no one can take that away from her. This is a huge boost for her.
AMEN!!!!
It's not just the rate of improvement or just the disappearance of injuries (there are substances to help improve recovery rates), but the person they went to who gave them the magic pill (pun intended) to turn Kara, barely an also-ran on the national pro scene a few years ago, into an international contender. Doesn't pass the sniff test, not by a long shot. Too good to be true.

Helping you avoid injury and run faster is what a coach is supposed to do. What is the acceptable rate of improvement to not raise suspicion of doping?

That was their only viable full-time training option with support being offered to them. It's not as though there were many deals coming their way in Boulder. At the time, Brad Hudson refused to take on the Gouchers, said they were washed up.
That is a lie! Brad did not coach them because one of his then current runners did not want him to coach his/her competition, so he declined for the athlete. He was more than willing to coach them both had the situation been different.

You're only among the 'ignorant masses' by choice then if you don't know who her coach is and what his reputation is.
Just because you would cheat doesn't mean that athletes like Kara Goucher aren't without morals and class.
You play yourself as if you're the man behind the curtain when in fact you have no real inside knowledge at all. No one is stupid enough to think that FloJo was clean, but I know of no one in the sport who thinks that Felix is not pure as an angel because of who she is.
Perception is reality. Some people want to believe and others know better than to be snowed by appearances. Some think they're clever for going around squawking that absence of proof is proof of absence while others chuckle at such brazen naivete. Some of us saw Regina Jacobs's fall long before others did, too, though were dismissed as cynical, jealous, know-nothing losers by the ostrich-like fans of the world. It's safer to assume that nobody at that level is doing it clean than to assume that it's only a few who are dirty and that it's only (comparatively) unattractive Africans and Asians.
Don't get me wrong, I'm completely straight, but after this race, I have a massive girl crush on Kara Goucher. What an awesome surprise from someone that a whole bunch of people had already written off! Go girl.
great simpsons quote...
glorious gold, so-so silver, and shameful bronze
ill take that shamful bronze anyday. good job
p.s.
please the time to point fingers on drug use and to make real changes was about 15 years.
times have changed, you either have to just enjoy the competition or stop watching the sport all together. the drug doors are open and i dont think they can be closed. i dont who is on them and i dont care. i just know that if you are talented enough to compete you are at a disadvantage unless you take them.

So it's safe to assume that you don't really buy into the whole "innocent until proven guilty" theme in our legal system?
And perception is perception. Reality is reality. Sometimes they're one and the same, sometimes they're not.
Honestly, playing the race card? Nice try. Your argument gets weaker and weaker the more you post, so for your sake you should probably just stop.

DUDE.. its a freaking bronze medal... do you remember the bronze medalists from 95 or 99.. NOPE!
When was the last time an AMERICAN won a "freaking bronze medal????"
All you have is your suspicions. Do you know how talented these guys are? They're the best of the best, and if they can stay healthy and don't have a complete dumbass for a coach they're going to run well.
Ask Rich Kenah what made 1997 (more than 1sec PB to 1:43.38 and bronze medals indoors and outdoors behind Kipketer) different than any other year: he stayed injury free and was able to train and race well.
I don't know who is to blame. Is it the few rotten apples like Jacobs and Lombard that spoil it, or is it you who are inclined to think the worse about people? You have to believe that you would use drugs if you were an up and coming distance runner, right? Because you assume that, in order to be competetive, then you must be using so you would do the same.
Some sad shit.
Just got done watching the Versus coverage of the women's 10,000. I was amazed to see that no one got lapped; that's a rarity.

You clearly don't know Salazar.
Kara Goucher is awesome. Superb effort. Nothing much else to say. Oh yeah, she is damn pretty too.

No, of course not. There is no cross-over or parallel between this topic and "our legal system". It is a trite strawman that people like to try to thrust into the discussion again and again, but it still is just as irrelevant as ever.
And perception is perception. Reality is reality. Sometimes they're one and the same, sometimes they're not.
Yeah, whatever you say.

Well, except for the fact that you clearly have no means to refute it. Besides, it's not the race card, really, it's the bigot card. Race may be a factor, but not necessarily. You know as well as I do that it's true, that the lynch mob of this forum is quickest to throw people of color who usually are from foreign nations under the doping bus yet routinely give a pass to nice-looking white folks like "us". You can try to deny it, but it won't work when the record of fact doesn't support such a denial.
