Why don't I compete in triathlons?
I'm a runner, do'h.
Seriously, like many have mentioned, I love the democratic simplicity of running. You just need a pair of shoes, and voilà, you can run, anywhere. That being said, the world is not black and white, and I love many sports. I also swim, and plan on doing a tri in September. It does look fun (swimming in the ocean, wearing cool sunglasses, passing people in the running section, yay :-). Still, I will never be a triathlete, and will always be a runner at heart. Why? I love running, but more to the point, I love runners.
(Most) runners I know are smart, strong, independent, humble, perfectionist, nerdy, and couldn't care less about what other people think. Yes, sir. (I would add that they have an appreciation for beauty, but my male friends would kill me. Disclaimer: Runners are not gay!).
Do I like the triathletes I know? Well, no. (I'm only talking about the men I know here--again, it's just my experience).
The triathletes I know are bully-type guys with a bruised ego, too much aggressiveness, no self-awareness, and no sense of humor…actually I might know Mequon Man—Francis, is that you?
