Good point, I have done a half IM and a few duathlons and learned alot. One thing learned is that old ladies who passed me while swimming are hard to catch up with later.

Running is obviously the harder of the three sports endurance wise, No doubt in my mind that any top level runner ,biker , swimmer (are there endurance swimmers?) could rape the best triathaloners in the world.
Just look at MOUNTAIN RUNNING.
Didnt those guys just get crushed by the first time mountaineer africans who were supposed to lose.
You're an idiot. Cycling and swimming are by far harder than running. Try spending six hours a day in the saddle and then get back to me.
no thanks i'll just watch the greatest athlete your sport ever created run a 2:59

Right and your going to disregard the fact that we spend 5-6 hours swimming and biking before we even touch a pair of running shoes, lets have you excursive for 5-6 and then try to run.
Doesn't surprise me that you'd "watch." Arm chair pussies like you are too scared to work hard.

well i do admit excursiving for 5 hours is tough
well i do admit excursiving for 5 hours is tough /quote
dang I spelled a word wrong…..me caring ….all done
well give me proof of a runner who sucks at triathalons?
Take a look in the mirror. There's your proof.
Different sports, like I said yesterday, you have to have Put all the training for an IM to appreciate these athletes. I seriously doubt that many people who are talking crap could line up at an IM and close in 2:59.
for an athlete who has run anywhere around 60 and up miles and can atleast run a 37min. 10k, 18min. 5k..put them on the bike for atleast a month and wah lah...you have a pretty decent biker. biking is a joke. its just technical. all you use is your quads. running/swimming u use almost every muscle in your body. biking is for people who cant run.

You do not have a "pretty decent biker." You have a shitty biker who is an almost decent runner.
"Bikers use only their quads." P Diddy obviously has no clue and therefore no credibilty. Next.
i have your mom, thats what i really have.
ill give credit. swimming is prolly harder than running. it certainly is very non enjoyable due to the fact you cant see shit but water in your eyes. but BIKING???? are you kidding me? 3 year olds bike.....
My mom's dead jackass.
Yes, swimming is also harder than running, but boring as f*** as you mention.
Sorry, but your "three year olds bike" arguement is pathetic. Every kid runs before they bike. Therefore, by your arguement, running is more immature than biking.

Your right! and the those quad muscles arnt important ,
especially after using them for 112 miles, then you just
hop off the bike and feel great! Man, you know what from
now on im going to ask you what it feels like to do a IM
cuz you seem to have a supper idea about what its like. You
have no idea what it feel like to ride for 112 miles then
run 26. Try this before you talk crap go to the gym and get
on a bike, ride at 22mph for. lets say 2 hours then go run
for an hour. then multiply that by 3 and add in swimming
and you might be able to talk to me about how the biking
doesn’t count.
what happend to my post?
my problem with triathlon's esp. the long ones, its not racing. its survival. sprint ones i was out there feeling competive. but in the longer ones i did. i felt like i was just poking around at times just trying to finish... and i think thats why most runners on here dont respect triathletes. i think they are both good. healthy lifestyles@!!!! god knows we need more of it. get kids off their fat @$$ and away from the playstations and alcohol, drugs and do something active.
It didn't feel like racing because you were too busy getting your ass kicked. Get in shape and then go race god damnit. Why put yourself through it to just poke along and finish?
well for your information, during this time i was a 14:26 5k runner, a category 1 cyclist, and could swim a mile in 18:34..but whatever. i competed in some top level tri's and did very well. i was just stating in the longer ones it just got to the point where i felt like i was just trying to finish.
