Andreas Dybdhal and Aydon Stefanopolous are definitely Sigma Chi (if yk yk)
Basically there’s this guy who goes around LA and basically records people on the street saying that they’re so cool and ask them if they’re in a frat but they hate Sigma Chi (I’m pretty sure they’re well known within UCLA) and I guess he found Dybdhal and Stefanopolous on their run and did their whole shtick, it was kinda funny ngl but they def seemed a lil uncomfy
Basically provide a link or basically it didn’t happen.
If JSerra recruits, then they should be penalized for doing such as sh!t show of a job doing that. Looking at their boys roster from the past two years they've never even fielded both a varsity team and lower level team. Stupid accusation!
Maybe they recruit the girls not the boys? The girls program is so much better and deeper

3 schools for Clara in the past 5 months. Coach D's has a constant chip on his shoulder and is a massive self-promoter who dragged his daughter into a sh!tstorm when he gave her a fire extinguisher to spray her shoes on the track, resulting in her DQ from her state title. She's a great talent, but going to lose opportunities because of him. Pops, let your kid's times speak for themselves and quit trying to take the spotlight from her while pretending to put her in the spotlight.
That said... Clara could still end up winning U20's, and Poly is ridiculously stacked, per usual.
800: Up in the air, but I’ll put an out there pick- Lily Symon (St Francis MV, previously at Los Altos). Grace Smith seems solid but her xc season wasn’t the greatest, she does have all of track season to get vengeance. Shirayah Lewis-Williams, Josie Hill, Ava Padilla, and Chloe Elbaz are others to look out for.
1600: Braelyn Combe no questions. Chiara Dailey, Amaya Bhardwaj, and Giselle Fernandez could also put up a good fight.
3200: Jaelyn Williams or Summer Wilson (it’ll definitely be one of them). Charlotte Hopkins and Isabella Ramirez should also be in the running.
Others to watch out for: Millie Bayles, Molly Sundgren, Avery Wolk, Addyson Johns, Ellison Williams, Aelo Curtis, Khloe DeLaTorre, Isla Bulmer, Brenna Mannion, The Cruz Twins, Natalie Arriaza, Sophie Hutchinson, Sydney Middleton, Maddie Goss, Gretchen Yakaitis, Alyssa Gutierrez, Carol Dye, Kamilah Salim, Taryn Coulston, Julie Plummer, Harper Diaz, Isabella Yroblewski, Lindsay Billotte, Ava Decleve, Maya Schiro, Brooke Lee, Ani Stieg, Maya Pawlowicz, Isabel Gladden, Ella Mogannam, Elliana Patterson, Farah Allen, Ari Llorens, Anna Salter, Ashlin Mallon
This year, Grace Smith was about 15 seconds slower in XC than last year. Shorter distance is defnitely her comfort zone, so I'd bet on her to be back where she was last year in the 800.
I expect to see some of the top senior girls try to double in the 1600/3200 this year. Jaelyn Williams, Summer Wilson, Aelo Curtis and Chiara Dailey - and maybe Bhardwaj. From that group, only Dailey tried it last year, and it proved to be too much for her. Hannah Thomsen was amazing in her double last year, and would have won both events if it weren't for Braelyn Combe outleaning her in an Epic finish. Speaking of Combe, she was the CIF D1 Champ in the 800 that past 2 years but hasn't run it at State yet, but she ran a 2:05 split at NON, so maybe she will try the 800/1600M double like Sadie did in 2023. She anchored Santiago's winning 4x800 last year, so for her it would be a tough triple. Sadie skipped the 800 in 2024 to run the 4x800 when she anchored that incredible comeback win for Ventura. Unlikely that anyone who runs the 4x8 can run the 3200 since they're back to back on the schedule, but it would have been fun to see Sadie try it and triple or even do the unthinkable and quadruple last year - if she had run track her final season in high school.
After running a very impressive 9:59 at the season opener, is Combe more likely to change gears and do a double in the 1600 and 3200 instead of the 800/1600? That would keep her out of the 4x8 though, and I'd think she'd want to defend that state title with all 4 of that relay squad returning. She also split a 56.5 in the 4x4 Saturday night.
The pool of girls who might be able to double the 1600/3200 this year in California is unlike anything I've ever seen with Williams, Dailey, Combe, and maybe Wilson, Bharadwaj and Curtis. This class may not have Sadie, Hanne or Rylee, but I can make a strong case that it's a much deeper class overall than last year.
I highly doubt Combe would continue doing the 3200 during postseason. 9:59 is utterly impressive but she’s definitely more of miler and losing her on the 4x800 at state might be cooked. She’s definitely more of a team player

No way that Combe wants to fight it out for 3rd place in the 3200 behind Jaelyn Williams and Summer Wilson. She'll stick with the 1600.

Agreed. Other than Paige Shepard in Jersey, none of the top runners run in more relays than her. Kids need to enjoy their high school years, but I'd think she'd phase that out down the stretch to focus on the 800 and 1600 and maybe have a shot at winning CA's Gatorade award.
I see Combe running the 3200m at 9:59 as a way to build her aerobic base to take on the 1600m State Record.
I never would have thought anyone in this girls class of 2026 would outdo the 2025 records, but I'm just waking up to how good this distance class actually is. The state 800, 1600 and 3200 records can all go down this year. Williams, Dailey or Wilson all have the range and ability to top Thomsen's 3200 record of 9:48. Braelyn Combe only needs to shave 3.5 seconds off her 1600m PR for the State meet record seems very doable, but Sadie's 4:26.77 at Hoka is the real time to beat. Combe might have it in her - especially after already running a 4:39 in Indoor that 9:59 3200. She also already posted a 2:09 800 in a time trial to start the season.
Sky is the limit for all of these CA girls. They deserve a lot more hype and credit than they've been given after running their first 3 high school years somewhat in Sadie's shadow. Yes, I'm aware that Sadie would have made all of these achievements much more unreachable if she would have run in HS last spring, but this 2026 girls group is still very impressive.

What does Williams 9:07 3km from January convert to over 3200m?
What does Williams 9:07 3km from January convert to over 3200m?
Converts to 9:47.31. That would do it! She hit that time in February! Only 10 seconds behind Jane's Nat'l record. Insane to think that these girls are actually not that far off of her times.

JSerra doesn't recruit. Programs ebb and flow based on coaching, talent gravitating to one high school, etc. Look how great San Clemente has been the past several years. They don't recruit. Their roster is stacked because they have incredible coaching. JSerra's roster is non-existent for next year. I'm not saying the coaching at JSerra isn't any good, but San Clemente on the boys side got the coach with the best results and best reputation in Orange County in the last 4 decades. Their success isn't an accident. If JSerra recruited you would see more than two non-seniors on their roster. Coaching is the most important thing.

I must have missed that. 9:07 is flying
By the way, where is Alden Morales? He had a fantastic XC season, I hope he isn't injured.
10 seconds? What are you talking about? Jane Hedengren ran 3200 in 9:14 and 2 miles in 9:17.
Jaelyn Williams is very good but she has a long way to go to catch Jane Hedengren.
Her Brooks PR was unattached, so I don't think it officiallly counts as a high school record, but I could be wrong. ;-)
I'd rather just talk about her PB of 9:30.68 at Arcadia in the 3200 because the Brooks PR 2 mile time (and the 3000 and 3200 en-route splits) are just ridiculously untouchable.
