10/15/2025 - This thread started well before anything was confirmed by Iowa State.
A volunteer moderator deleted several threads on this topic. That's not the way this should work. We believe in free expression and have reinstated them and merged them into this one thread.
As we wrote at the time, "If there is no truth to these rumors, please contact us at letsrun@letsrun.com or give us a call at 844-538-7786 and we will be happy to delete them and issue a statement."
It ends up appearing that the rumors had some teeth to them. Earlier today LetsRun.com co-founder Robert Johnson emailed head coach Jeremy Sudbury to let him know about this thread and asked if there was any truth to it.
At 3:31 pm ET, coach Sudbury emailed me the following:
Hello Robert, Thank you for reaching out directly. There were team rule violations. I have worked with our administration, and the involved athletes have been suspended and will not compete the remainder of this season. Have a nice rest of your weekend. Jeremy
Please see the statement that I have added to the top of this thread.
Volunteer mods, please use this as an educational example of how not to moderate in the future. We always say "the more specific allegation, the more proof" we want to see. This was a very easy thing to confirm or deny. We wrote to the coach and they confirmed the team has been hit with suspensions.
But just because something hasn't been confirmed doesn't mean it should be deleted. If you are unsure of whether to delete something, keep it up and email or text us. "Hey someone keeps stating some very specific things - can you look into it?"

I genuinely believe that Coach Sudbury didn’t know this was occurring. He has a very talented, hard-working group of guys. When some of those guys, mainly the ones outside the top five range (ex. Seth Clevenger, MAYBE individuals like Hanibal Halie and AJ Bonnessen) realized that they could possibly be a strong contingent for a top team, they went all in on maximizing their potential, albeit not in a legal manner.
Only time will tell who was caught and who wasn’t. If I were to assume, it would be people who made the greatest jumps this season - not people who’ve done well for a long time, like Devan Kipyego.

If there's one thing I know from being on this site for literally decades now, it's that the moderation has always been and continues to be a complete clusterf-ck. And it's silly how often you or Weldon overrule your moderators and then publicly bemoan the mistakes in the moderation, as if you guys don't have any ability to control this. What would have to happen for you and Weldon to professionalize it?
It's obvious you guys are cheap and don't want to spend money on paying moderators, but I can think of a bunch of inexpensive ways for you to track and evaluate your moderators, then train or get rid of the ones who fall short of expectations. Instead, you have loose cannons running amok and have done so for years (ahem, one rhymes with Falmo, who hilariously calls you out publicly for all kinds of stuff and generally acts like he has compromising photos of you guys). I've made some of these suggestions over the years and you (Rojo) have actually said "good idea!" then done nothing.
TLDR: get your sh-t together, Rojo, and fix the moderation once and for all. JFC, it's not that hard.
Do the NCAA do in competition tests even? If not a bunch of surprise tests at some big meet should get a some measure of what’s going on. Usually in comp is an IQ test but if it’s not the norm may work.
I texted an NCAA coach before Sudbury got back to me.
He or she had heard there what everyone lse had been hearing - multiple suspensions from the team. They then added to the only things in his or her experience that get kids kicked of an NCAA team midseason are 1) PEDS ro 2) Sexual assault/domestic abuse.
I think it's not quite that simple but pretty close. I mean any serious criminal matter would do it.

Oh stop it rojo. This thread's only staying up because it's not about one of your buddies. Bring back the great Vivien Henz Gibby-takedown thread.

Completely agree with this. Especially the loose cannon grumpy old grandpa. He probably doesn’t want to see a lot of PED topics given his own experience.
