The fall off of our dear Chokervic, whom I’ve been a fan of for years and years, is simply unprecedented among those considered “GOAT status.” Age alone does not explain it one bit. We are forced to search elsewhere to calm the tumult in our mind
The Government of Australia used PSYOP tactics in their unsuccessful attempt to manipulate Djokovic into getting a Covid vax as a condition for entering their country in 2022. He remains traumatized by the experience of being poisoned by the food at the detention facility..
Djokovic is on to quarterfinal of French after another straight set win ( he has not dropped sets). It’s incredible that he’s able to this at an age of 38 against player 10-20 years younger than him.
It was his 100th win at French-second only to Rafael Nadal (who is also 38 but retired).
I don’t think he has much chance against Zverev but you never know with Djokovic. If he win it will be another incredible feat by GOAT.
He is intelligent and understands the mRNA drug is designed to kill and debilitate. The Australian government tried to mess with him by kicking him out of the country and in retaliation the Serbian government cancelled Rio Tinto's contract to strip mine lithium ore. Bravo!!! All kudos to the pureblood champion GOAT tennis player!
Australia's puppet government FAFO - they found out.
Winner of 0 since his COVID infection resulted in long-COVID inflammatory syndrome that has drastically weakened his connective tissue.
Completely made up BS.
Indeed. Winning Olympic gold medals, still making grand slam finals, and easily dispatching world #3s on perhaps his worst surface is making a mockery of these fools who imply that he should be winning calendar slams every year through the age of 45😂🤡. Most of the *key* losses (not all) seem to come at the hands of the alleged doper and world ranked #1. This is not the domain of 38-year old pros. He’s an outlier in every respect.

No one here is presenting any compelling evidence one way or the other - it's a completely useless thread - none of you will be convinced one way or the other. You are just feeding trolls on both sides.

Again you misrepresent my argument. We both agree he’s playing much worse. We just disagree why

At the end of the day, there’s no way to prove it one way or the other, but certainly a positive Covid test from January 2024 and a battery of physiological markers would’ve removed a shadow of a doubt, but of course those are nonexistent. And the fact that almost every pro tennis player in history has dropped off after age 35 and there are very, very few 38+ year olds ranked in the world’s top 150, let alone the top ten, suggests that Djokovic is teetering on the edge of that Father Time cliff. With flashes of brilliance, which is normal for an aging star. Occam’s Razor and an outcome anyone who ever played tennis at a reasonably high level would understand.
But, you are correct. This is fruitless. However, it really is only one or two people who *need* the long Covid narrative to fit. Everyone else is on the same side and understands how dumb that is. The fact that one of these people already lied when he said he never mentioned Covid on this thread to begin with (or simply forgot, lol in his failure to be thorough) should cast doubt on his thesis. Zverev would very much agree.

Speculation is rampant on this messageboard. Usually with less supporting evidence than I provide.
For some reason you cannot let my speculation go, parsimony be damned.

There is no "battery of physiological markers" that would prove or disprove long COVID or whatever.
You seem just as invested as Harambe in the veracity of the COVID claims. I know why Harambe cares, he enjoys this, why do you care? Do you enjoy this?
I have a lot of respect for what he has done. By the time you reach your late 30s, after a couple of decades of world-class athleticism, you will fall apart unless you’re meticulous about taking care of your body. Clearly he has done that, and is reaping the rewards.

In 2008 Djokovic got straight-setted by Nadal at Roland Garros in an even more spectacular fashion. It wasn't close. Yet in the twilight of his career he made each set against Sinner extremely close - and Sinner has been playing at a level far higher than the rest of the tour, with the exception of Alcaraz on clay. At 38 Djokovic is still a far better player than he was at 21. The reasons have nothing to do with his abilities - which were never as outlandish before he went "gluten-free" in 2011 - but the same reason that so many other aging athletes are still able to produce "outlier" abilities in their later years. This is professional sport and Djokovic has done - and still does - what so many other pro athletes do to find an edge - and especially stamina that rivals Lance Armstrong's. The discussion of Covid is irrelevant here. Djokovic defies age yet again and there is only one thing that enables that.

Sinner is Djokovic 2.0. Long and lean. Built to meet the demands of the racket technology. Tennis is now an endurance sport, especially at the French open. Sinner and Djokovic are very efficient tennis machines and are able to generate exceptional racket head speed with their perfect technique and long wingspan without expending much energy (comparably). This is why they are always able to come up with the big winner on a long rally after multiple deuces/break points.
