Sort of by design. They peak for and win state nearly every year. I think Gilbert will be best this year with Dowling 2 and Cedar Falls 3.

Ford Washburn 7:51.24 in Seattle today. Would have been the World Record up until 1962.

Ope not to bury the lede: Paityn Noe (also class of ‘23) ran 8:47.17 yesterday, currently 9th on the NCAA qualifying list.

2 Awesome times from both athletes. Yet, the "King of Iowa" hasn't ran a race since June 15, 2023. Crazy to see the progression of Ford and Paityn. They are representing us well.

Injuries kill may careers.

Heidesch has dealt with injuries. But some of the best high school runners were Josh Evans and Ryan Schweizer. Yet, other guys like Matt Carmody, Gabe Sieperda, and Max Murphy ran faster in college.

Does anyone know if Heidesch will be able to compete this spring? I hope he is healthy.

There has been a lot written about Duke's coaching problems. You could make the argument that he had better coaching in high school.

He is only running 15MPW.

Sometimes kids go to college and find out they like to party.
It could be a coaching issue, a kid issue, or both.

Of what?

Blue standard. It is a marketing gimmick that confuses most athletes and fans. And people need to read the fine print regarding 3 athletes per team. Imagine being on an elite team that has 3 kids hit the standard one week and Mike Jay tweets that those 3 are guaranteed. The next week, a teammate hits the standard and now one of the 1st three are out. The standards have been so far off the past few years, that more than 21 hit the standard. They should drop the silly gimmick.

So who gets to go? Don’t really understand you scenario. Doesn’t they way they do it get the fastest kids in the race?

Coach decides when more than 3. It has happened multiple times. Dowling and PV come to mind recently.
