Rocky Mountain will be very good again. Returning a 5:18 average so far and will likely be closer to 5:12 by the end of the season.
Not sure why this got downvotes. They are returning 4 out of 7 from the team that won the Northwest region by ~90, and are led by Hallie Heemeyer, who has set school and state records in the 1600 and 3200 as a junior.
That 5:18 average is now down to 5:15, and they've got a stacked freshman girl class who will replace the seniors in the fall.

Things can change, but my guess why people downvoted is that Rocky Mountain will be up against Timberline, Boise, and Summit OR. These 3 teams are graduating fewer varsity runners than Rocky Mountain.
Can anyone give insight into the some of the bottom teams that qualify.....ie 15-20 and what their team average would look like for the 1600 or 3200? XC times are too hard to compare, but just wanted an idea of track fitness for some of those qualifying teams.
Super hard to say on average because some teams have a great 1-2 punch or a great top runner that skews average. We didn't make it out of our region with 2 runners under 17 and three under 18.

Hallie Heemeyer hasn’t run a state record.
Rilyn Stevens ran faster at 3200, Maggie Liebich ran faster at 1600m.
I personally just don't think the 1600/mile really translates for alot of kids to 5k cross.....sure some will do well, but ALOT and I mean alot of girls run 5:15 but not many of that caliber will go near 18 low.

And Heemeyer skews the average for them quite a bit. The next girls have run 5:09.72, 5:18.92, 5:24.56, 5:25.48, 5:33.15, and 5:34.53. There are A LOT of 5:24-5:25 girls and Rocky won't be getting nearly as an impactful freshman class next year.
How do the Texas teams look this spring on the track? I know track times don't always lead to XC success but Rogers High is having a heck of a spring season led by Lillie Beshears.

Flower Mound is graduating two of their top 3 and their best runner was hurt for track, someone is always hurt with them. Southlake is graduating a few of their top runners. Bridgeland is graduating one of their better runners. A lot will depend on who emerges from the summer training. With Texas you have a bunch of good individual runners not on good teams. Rodgers could slip in for a team spot this year.
---------------- NY is going to have a bunch of strong programs:
Bethlehem returns 5 of 7, Shen returns 6 of 7 Saratoga returns 6 of 7. ( We will see how they do with the krannicks finally retiring) Northport returns 5 of 7 (all 5 scorers) Guilderland returns 6 of 7. FM will hopefully put a team together this decade. (lol)
For NXN spots, I would lean 2 of the top 3 I posted, but the overall depth on the girls side will be great.
Saratoga will probably do fine for a while as they still have many leftovers from the Kranick era. It’s good that the Kranicks were there for one more year because they were able to coach the 8th and 9th graders who will be around for a while.

By the sounds of it Rogers will be the team to beat.....atleast on paper.
4:48, 5:09, *5:15 converted from a 4:53 1500, 5:18, and 5:23 is a very solid returning 5 for an Idaho school. Reminder, these Idaho teams aren't racing in Cali under the lights every week. I believe that's a 5:10 average. Last year they had a 5:13 average coming back from the track season. Yes, their number 1 girl skews the average, but she will also skew their team score in a good direction at a big meet like NXR. Rocky Mountain, Timberline, Boise, combined with Oregon/Washington's best and a possible Montana team will make the NW a fun region to follow.

Northport had 5 nonsenior girls under 4:54 in the 1500 this outdoor season, but one of them (F Wickard) doesn’t run XC because of soccer in the fall

But as of now, Bethlehem and Shen look to be the top 2 girls teams in the NY since these were the top 2 last year and neither of them are graduating many runners

So, Utah is already done with State? ...and now they can start to prepare for Nationals next month, while many states are just starting regionals and have 3 more races before State.
