A ton of his training is at 10 mile to half marathon pace efforts. I don't see why it's such a stretch to him try a half? He's mentioned many times he doesn't train specifically for the 1500m and his races are his 'workouts'.
If you want to watch it live, here is some info on how you can do it:

Which is why it’s highly unlikely he’ll last at that pace. He’s training for 1500-5000 meters, no way he’s going to smash an already impressive half world record at a distance over four times as long as he trains for

Sub-57 is equal to 52.75 laps of 64.8 seconds, which when you phrase it like that seems effortlessly easy for someone like Jakob. Of course the roads is a different story to the track though.
64.8 is also effortlessly easy for Kerr, Hocker and Nguse. Can any of them run 57:00?

He sure had a tough “workout” in Paris.
If Jakob breaks 59:00 it will still be highly impressive! I can’t recall Farrah’s best half time, but this be purely on 1500-5k training. I’ll say right now if Jakob runs 58:xx, it will confirm his ambition to break every WR through half marathon. Imagine how fast he will be when he actually trains for 10k-half.
Jakob confirmed at the press conference he has never ran longer than 20 km.

Uber lol
He apparently said the below during the press conference. I take it as he not will go with the leading group. He also said he will have Filip as a pacer, so guess he aims at a lower start pace (European record?)
I am not in that discussion tomorrow because of the preparations. I'm here to participate and have fun, says Ingebrigtsen
This was above quote was when asked if he believe the WR could be set in Copenhagen

What's the start time
9 a.m. in Denmark, 3 a.m. my time, still trying to figure out a way to watch later in the morning without learning of the result.

This is what I like about him and echoes what Renato said, he's not afraid to lose. He doesn't only line up when everything is perfect, whether it's his health, the weather or his training.
This was evident last week in Zurich when he was sick but also at the last Prefontaine vs. Kerr where he was just beginning his speedwork due to injury. Of course he wanted to win both of these races, but he expressed that he was happy with the results in both instances. On a similar note, lining up for this half marathon without the ideal preparation is equally admirable.

Which means if he runs really impressively tomorrow, we can put the final nail in the coffin of the importance of "the long run."

IngyTings (tm)
Jakob can barely win his specialty events let alone dominate them...and trying to step up? Not gonna as well as expected.
The characteristics of Kiplimo can make him the first athlete running full marathon under 2 hours in a valid race. He has morphology, running technique and mentality perfect for that event (very much better than Cheptegei, for instance), and is very fast in the field of possible marathon runners, how showed when beated Jakob in 3000m running 7'26"64.
So, his range can include 3000m and Marathon.
Instead, Jakob Ingebrigtsen had for long time 1500m as main event, and, also if his training includes a lot of volume at HM pace, the lack of long continue run at that pace probably can't allow him to achieve the top result in full marathon in the future, and of sure not at the moment.
So, his range can include 1500m and HM.
But there is another very important difference between Jacob K. and Jakob I. : the first had a stagnation in his PB, while the second every year improved in some direction.
Look at the PB of Kiplimo : 5000m is the only PB run in 2024, his PB in 10000m (26'33"93) is from 2021 such as his WR in HM (57'31"), and his position in two editions of 10000m in OG produced one bronze in 2021, but only the 8th position this year.
Instead, we can see the last 5 years of Ingebrigtsen and his honors in big Championships :
2020 : 3'28"68 - 4'50"01 (2000m) - 7'27"05 - 13'28" (5 km road)
2021 : 3'28"32 - 12'48"65
2022 : 3'29"02
2023 : 3'27"14 - 3'43"73 (Mile) - 4'43"13 (2000m) - 7'23"63 (3000m) - 7'54"10 (2 Miles)
2024 : 3'26"73 - 7'17"55
Ingo runs many races every year : in 2023 he ran 11 times 1500m (3 indoor), 1 time 2000m, 3 times 3000m (2 indoor), 1 time 2 Miles, 2 times 5000m.
This year : 11 times 1500m, 1 time Mile, 1 time 3000m, 4 times 5000m.
Till now, in 1500m he ran 16 times under 3'30", 9 times under 3'29", 4 times under 3'28" and 1 time under 3'27".
He's the holder of WR in 2000m (4'43"13), 2 Miles (7'54"10) and 3000m (7'17"55).
He never was interested to run a 5000m for time, but only for winning titles :
Till now he has 3 Olympic Gold (1500m in 2021 an 5000m in 2021 and 2024) and 2 Golds in WCh (both in 5000m, 2022 and 2023).
I don't think there is a match between Kiplimo and Ingebrigtsen at the moment, with the Norwegian clearly favourite till 10 km included, and the Ugandan at different level in HM and Marathon (if and when can decide to prepare).
The only doubt : Kiplimo never can in the future have the same assistant and the professionalism of Jakob, something he learn during all his life, having examples like the two brothers Henry and Filip, that dedicated their early life completely to athletics, something no African runners never did (with the only ecception of Kipchoge and Gebrselassie).
