Agreed. Could not have said it better myself. I would argue both deserve compliments for their performances. I am actually surprised by Jakob's mile fitness given his injury history this year.
I thought 3:47.5-3:48 low in a time trial setting would be nice for Jakob right now based on the Achilles issue. 3:45 mid? He will be dangerous come Paris. Unlike previous years, there will be an upward curve for Jakob. People seem to forget that.
He ran 3:43 after worlds last year... Meaning he was on an upward curve. And he still lost to Kerr.
What this race means is that Ingebritsen will need to be in 3:42, if not 3:41 shape to beat Kerr. He's not outkicking him. And Kerr isn't going to lead the Olympics. That means unless Jakob can bribe Yared to lead, Jakob needs to be able to push hard from a long ways out. To do that, he needs to be significantly faster than Kerr. Last year he was in 3:43 shape and still wasn't fit enough. And Kerr has shown he's faster than last year.
Lolz.. Jakob will need to start his kick from the gun and still get lucky. Josh must be feeling fkn great right now. Jakob stays shut down.
If I was Kerr, I'd be sweating a bit, but not a ton. Jakob missed months of training and he's already opened in a 3:45. The plus for Kerr is he's ahead of where he was last season, but Jakob is also improving.

Well let's see here... he beat him in the WC, broke a WR record, has been PRing left and right and today backed up a bunch of trash talking. No, he's not sweating.. he's got the answers and he's executing. Jakob is being told he can't win in Paris, and yeah he doesn't have a game plan.

First race off an injury and for the season usually called a rust buster. Check your new running dictionary to help you get up to speed. That’s what it was bruh. Honestly will we remember the 2024 Bowerman Mile in a few years or the 2024 1500 Olympic final? Wakey wakey my man.
I am unsure how drug insinuations join this thread and only cover Jakob. What exactly gives the sense that everyone else in the race was natural? At least he is much younger and constantly made progress, where Kerr’s recent leaps have come after the age at which many 1500 runners have peaked.
As to the race itself, I think all of the top three looked notably taxed yet I would say with sharpening Jakob could come off the turn and close down that last 100. Of course, there is no guarantee that Kerr does not still have room for sharpening, I’m just operating off of his having run a few more races than Jakob.
As to the personalities, I am one that finds Jakob confident and Kerr arrogant. It’s funny, because none of us really know either of these people, as tends to be he case with most athletes or celebrities. And yet, that’s how I feel!

You fanboys were crying about Kerr not running a DL meet not long ago... Josh fkn bossed him today, eot.

My question remains - how is Jakob going to beat Kerr in Paris? This has been fun.
Kerr has been better on two occasions, props to him for that. He lost to Nuguse late last year then ducked the pre classic where he would have likely ended up third at best.
Jakob hanging with Kerr on a 53s last lap bodes very well for Jakob. On the day of the finals, all it will take is one being slightly off for the other to take advantage. I think Jakob is still the better guy but this can change with time. A 3:45 opener was significantly better than I expected, so as a Jakob fan I think he is on the right track to beat Kerr. It wouldn’t surprise me though if Kerr wins again or if Nuguse snuck past both. The 1500m is stacked right now.
3rd lap was 57.9? Jakob need to keep the pedal to the metal to win. If he can do that he will win. if not Kerr kicks home
Well, he won't find himself on Kerr's shoulder again in any final so it doesn't matter. Kerr just needs to sit on him while he attempts to solo a 3:26 and snipe him in the last 100.

Jakob does not have an advantage over Kerr in a 1500 final. His best bet would be to try to solo a 3:26 in a final, but even if he could Kerr is fit and strong enough to snipe him. Jakob is getting bossed by Kerr.
Jakob just interviewed on Norwegian tv and very happy with his time considering how it felt.
He ran very well but I feel like the extra 109 helps him compared to the field
Good point. I had a guy at Cornell swear to me the 1500 and mile were two separate events. His wheelhouse was the 1k so he liked the 1500. The mile was a like a 3k for him.

Jakob won't be able to run away from Kerr in the Olympics but he can't let it go slow or he will end up with nothing. He may possibly be able to run away from him in a paced diamond league later in the season but no chance without a pacer. I don't see how he beats Kerr unless Kerr messes up tactically.
Also three Brits in before Hocker. Didn't Rojo reckon the US team is harder to make than GB, LOL.
Everyone says Jakob has to make it fast. But doesn't Josh also want it kind of fast. You think he wants it to go slow and open the door for Wightman? I think today's race might be good for Jakob as it might give Kerr the confidence to lead more of the Olympcis. But post-race Kerr said Mackey told him not to lead. If it's slow at 500 in the Olympics, who takes it is the question.
As for the Brits, no I didn't say that. I said it comes down to who has the best 4th placer adn that's the Brits if they are healthy.
