Desperately need new material.
No. No she is not.
KT is the best runner in the known universe. Anyone who has (or will) run faster than her is obviously doping. There is not enough hype about her! However fast she runs should be declared the WR anytime she races, regardless of what anyone else runs. As President she will be able to write out an order to allow that to happen.

The problem is no one can tell that is real with EPO floating around. Battocletti had a miraculous Olympic year turn around, going from 15:40s to low 15:00s to 14:46 in a matter of months. Whether or not that is related to her being coached by her father, who was busted for doping in 1999, and Italy's generally lax attitude on the subject, is an intriguing question. LOL.
So lets do a projection. Take last weeks effort, even one that followed some adversity, add EPO and the cocktail of other chemicals, and 15:03 becomes ,say, 14:40 or 14:30s. That's the level of impact, unfortunately. That is why I ignore global terms.
Sure, it's just every other nation cheats and the poor Americans who always play by the rules, plug away running mediocre, but clean times. I will place a lot of money that Battocletti has been tested at least 10 times more than Tuohy has, especially since the NCAA is the Wild West in terms of doping control (remember, it lies outside of WADA and USADA because they don't want anyone testing the football players).
You can ignore global competition all you like, but this isn't baseball, the rest of the world competes in this sport.

I like how you prepare us for a lackluster performance by KT in the 10,000 by saying it just might be a "tempo" run for her. Did Pre ever "tempo" any race?
Nope. But I don't reside in fantasy world. Still, if you want to believe otherwise, go crazy.

And not to beat a dead horse, but what is more likely? That a runner who was beaten by Kelsey Chmiel at the Great Edinburgh race in 2018, who never ran any times of note until a sudden and extreme progression conveniently time for the Olympics during which time she was well outside the testing radar, and who happens to be coached by someone who was outright busted for doping while running for a nation that has been one of the world's worst doping offenders for years (no coincidence that the top EPO doctors were Italian), was clean, or that, gee whiz, maybe, just maybe, it was as shady as it seems. At the top echelons ths sport is not clean. Nothing unique there, but making naive comparisons is silly. Happily KT is not a pro yet and has not confronted the pressures of this reality yet.

She has won some NCAA championships but has won them in mediocre times. Let's temper our enthusiasm in proclaiming her the greatest female distance runner of all time. She is a solid collegiate runner but slow down on putting her in the Runner's Hall of Fame just yet. She has a chance to be a solid professional runner, but who knows?!? She has maybe already plateued. She could maybe do some pacing duties, a la Eric Jenkins, for the professional female runners. She is NOt ready for any Diamond League races. no where close. She is a solid collegiate runner but is a minute behind the fastest female runners for the 5000.
Her hype is about Potential of what she might be, not what she is currently, She is great for where she is now NCAA, No she is not Currently a threat to the Pros like F. Kipyegon, L. Gidey, L. Muir S. Hassan etc. Will she be in 5-10 Years who knows? But she is doing great and is an excellent prospect.
This is where we're at: the multiple NCAA champion and multiple NCAA record holder--over various distances no less- is now both "over-rated" and "mediocre"? Luckily, we don't need you to tell us who we can be enthused about or not. We can, however, say with certainty that there is clearly something wrong with your brain, tammyj.

Yeah, she sucks. Winning races? Lame. Breaking records? Lame. Running is not about winning or being the fastest. It's about a secret third thing!
I have accurately rated Katelyn Tuohy. She is a great runner and one of the best NCAA runners of all time. She is on the verge of becoming the best but is not there yet.
The simple answer is - YES!
