How about the propensity of U.S. runners to refer to ALL distances in English units? "I run the half." "He started kicking with a quarter left..."
When swimmers swim 400 meters, they never refer to it as a quarter mile...
back in my skiing days we used to say "lets kick it" before certain mogul runs.

That boy always leaves it on the road. We'd do mile repeats, pulse below 120 interval, on Mondays. On Tuesdays we'd do an 8-10 mile medium recovery run. Also, this doesnt count as slang, but track makes you think in meters. I always tell someone the distance of something in meters, and they look at me like Im crazy, unless they are a runner, and then they know exactly what I mean.
I went for a moderate fartlek of 3 on 1 off with the 3 at threshold and the mile at "e" pace. I felt a slight build up of lactic acid in my quad but after a shakeout of 2 in the pm I felt cleaned out and ready for my tempo tomorrow.

"sweat circle": simply, the track
"frost-log": getting a painfully cold dick during windy winter runs

"stud" - used in reference to a good runner, esp. one with a slew of impressive accomplishments
"bonked" - to suffer a sudden loss of energy, usu. accompanied by soreness and/or pain, esp. in marathons (see "died")
"crapped out" - usu. used in conjunction with reference to one's legs; signifying a loss of energy (this one may be more local?)
"hammer" - to run a race, distance, or workout fairly hard (this one my have come up already, not sure)

"tactical" can mean a lot of things in other sports. In running, it seems to mean run slow with a bunch of other guys until less than a lap to go, then see who has the fastest 200 speed.
"pull a Rexing" (run at speed of light while simultaneously banging three entire sororities at once)
Got to say that so far nearly all this slang is entirely used in other sports, some of it in several sports.
"sit on" is heavily used in bike racing. As well as "sit in".
Ditto for "hammer". All hard group rides are called "hammerfests".
Ditto for "tactical" as drafting is even more a factor in bike racing.
"Pull a Rexing" may be the only completely original running slang I have seen thus far.
Somebody just above this had some good ones with "tempo" and some others I don't remember.
Are strides (striders) used in other sports?
I can't see many other sports where you would get spiked.

rhyming slang - there is/was a runner called Grenville Tuck who was a top 70's runner in the UK. When anyone asked you how you felt after a session/race the inevitable reply was that you were Grenvilled.
