Brazier has a history of struggling with the rounds, he's in the next heat. We'll see if he's ready

Hoppel didn't look 100%. Especially considering he is known to hate losing even in heats, but maybe he has grown out of that phase.

Sowinski takes it out 1:17.9 as is his style, brazier handles it well blows by everyone 1:45.00 nice race. Sowinski 4th relying on time q
Sowinski...what good is he?
Jenny Simpson 2nd heat of the 5000? currently not a scratch....
Hoppel and Brazier both look a little iffy. If sowinski doesn’t let the inside open up brazier doesn’t get the auto Q, and hoppel just didn’t look sharp...

He'll certainly be an asset in the final if we can rely on him to take it out in 51 low for everyone else

Really dumb racing off the turn, letting Brazier through on the inside. But Sowinski should go through on time.
I thought brazier looks good.
Brannon Kidder Olympic standard 👍🏼
That was a very quick heat. Kidder lookin good for the third spot.
They both looked fine, the announcers like to make a big deal out of nothing

He definitely accelerated well off the turn and looked *very* easy in the last 50. Tactically not great but I thought he looked ok. In 1:43 flat shape at worst probably
I've heard enough of Sanya Richards-Ross. And it's only 90 minutes into the first day of coverage.
1:45.00 damnnnnnnnnnn!!. 1st heat was not even sub 1:48
Lewis Johnson is actually doing a good job interviewing the athletes, asking them insightful questions rather than the standard "how do you feel" blather . . .
Is there any reason why events are occurring so late? The 100 at 9:37 PST. Is this some sort of test for Tokyo or something?
What? His Dad built an actual track?

Have to be faster than that. Brazier can run 51/51 = 1:42 which he has run.
Low 50 or high 49 is a nice, hard pace.
