Yeah. Most answers relate to some version of fame or the degree of devotion of followers. And likeable is a different standard.

I think this is the most likable Pope in modern times even for those that aren’t religious.
For faithful Catholics, Pope Francis is probably the most disappointing pope in several centuries. I admire Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI much more, and think John Paul II was much more liked than Francis is. Popularity is not always characteristic of something virtuous and the virtuous are not always popular. And popularity can be fickle. Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem with admirers waiving palm fronds and the next week was killed on a cross.
Most of us are a mixed lot. Consider the following:
Christianity Ronaldo: Has hundreds of millions of admirers and for many reasons rightly so. He’s great at his sport and in many ways very disciplined ( diet, training, abstinence from alcohol). I believe he’s a blood donor. Yet he has four kids by three women and paid one woman circa $375,000 to settle a charge of sexual assault .
Lionel Mess: Doesn’t seem as concerned as Ronaldo about building a following yet in my mind the greatest ever at his sport. But even he had kids before marriage.
Gotta go! Have more to write.
Oops! That should have been “Cristiano Ronaldo.”
No longer living but I will throw Mohammad Ali out there
Bibi Netanyahu
Dolly Parton, Mr. Rogers and Bob Ross come to mind.
Bitcoin, Ethereum or Dogecoin? Come on, you have to admit, they are popular right now. 😉
I'd say Epstein, but that might be moving into admired, and envied more than liked. Plus most people don't know that he's still alive...
this is what I have wrote:
Politicians will never be as likeable as athletes. Not sure that hollywood stars are really liked, they're just followed for the drama.
This is definitely true, at least while they are in office. However, some gain popularity after they exit government. Presidents Carter and Bush Sr. are examples. Both were one-term presidents, both had some negative issues while in office. Both were criticized harshly by the opposing political party. But I think most Republicans have a pretty favorable view of Carter TODAY (not of his presidency but his life post-White House) and I think most Democrats had a pretty favorable view of Bush in his later years. Do you remember the ovation for President Bush when he was wheeled out to the center of the field for the coin toss at the Super Bowl? Stadium was probably close to 50/50 Dems and Repubs and they were all cheering. It has been a long time since either were in the White House and people are seeing them as men rather than politicians; Carter as a very friendly and kind man who has dedicated much of his later years to helping the less fortunate (Habitat for Humanity) and Bush as a very friendly and kind man who was a member of the Greatest Generation and nearly died in combat in the Pacific serving his country.
Naomi Osaka.
Over a million followers now and with her latest stunts, if you say you don't like Naomi Osaka you're a racist bigot who doesn't respect people with mental disorders.
For the record, in case my employer is watching, I LOVE Naomi Osaka. She is so brave.

Kantè
This is the correct answer
I was thinking N'Golo Kanté but don't think he is big enough to be a public figure. Messi is way more well known and very likable.
Yeah, but I don't know how many Brazilians like Messi. (Or Real Madrid fans, for that matter.)
Difficult question to answer since Grumpy Cat died. Can't imagine anybody being more popular than her.

I am bothered that I am now so isolated that i can't think up a reasonable answer to this question. Being totally disconnected from main streams of media other than choppy youtube stuff. I would guess the person to be some combination of-
Famoudou Konate
David Goggins
And The Charitability of Dolly Parton
Sincerely no idea. Retreated into local since i can't decipher the bs in the main streams.
I gotta admit, Bill Gates has done a great job keeping a squeaky clean image considering he was a friend of Jeffrey Epstein and therefore may have went to Epstein Island. Epstein was like Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood, everyone knew but they kept quiet. Maybe even more deplorable though, he pushes vaccines to make a lucrative profit. Look up the evils of big pharmaceutical companies on Google. Sickening stuff and of course they are profiting from a pandemic and making the public their guinea pigs. Bill Gates behind covid19? Call it a conspiracy theory but there's a lot of shady stuff behind close doors.
Donald Trump
Gotta go with the Michelin Man on this one.
