I don't wish him ill will, but he's blaming it on a world gone crazy rather than realizing nothing good comes from publically stating divisive opinions. It's always been that way and always will be.

black lives matter. That has to be more divisive than all lives matter.

1st Amendment freedom of speech allows people to say pretty much what they want and they will not be prosecuted by the government for it. They CAN be prosecuted if they infringe on other people's rights, however. Public protests are fine until they result in property damage and violence.

Often people try to claim they are the victim and that gives them the right to be a bully. This is warped thinking. If you believe in freedom of speech, you have to believe in it for others with whom you do not agree. If you don't believe in it for them, you don't believe in it.

Left and Right wing extremists are guilty of some bad stuff. The vast majority of us want to live our lives and let others live theirs. The vast majority of us do not want to be associated with extreme viewpoints. Because of this, organizations (companies, schools, social groups, teams, etc.) are going to distance themselves from people expressing extreme views so they are not associated with them. They are usually within their rights to do that, even if the person expressing the extreme views is within their rights to speak them.

Nobody said you would not be anathematized for saying things that ran counter to the core mission of many educational institutions. There are still colleges that celebrate your values. Apply to one of them. Additionally, don’t you think perhaps you would not have been happy at the original school anyway, given what you believe?
