Not to change the subject but i keep seeing people say things to the effect of
“why would a kid pay full price to go to a school in D3, when a D1 school would give that same athlete money.”
But aren’t full ride track scholarships rare? And even after that D1 gives the athlete scholarship money, couldn’t it still end up more expensive than the D3 school, especially if, such as the case here, the D3 is a public in the athletes home state paying in state tuition? Also, the students income is a major factor as well.
I say this to say I don’t think its always suspicious when a guy stays at a D3 in spite of running D1 times when they are already having success on the track and may not get as much of a discount somewhere else compared to what they are already paying.
For example, why would a kid leave an in in state public D3 they are having incredible success at for an out of state D1 and even if its 2k a year cheaper, you don’t know if you are going to have the same success? Coaching matters.
I am not defending Seth as this looks bad and he looks guilty but just in general, at least in track where there is little money to give, not sure it always makes sense to leave a D3 for a D1 unless its the eight fit.
