This is definitely the next investigation - his family and finding out if the abuse claims are true. I doubt they are. I'm expecting to find out everything is a lie.

Father raped his sister? More like he was just a fraudster and thief and got jailed for that, and the rest just came from the sick head of RY.

Anyhow in the uk you only serve a few months for child rape, so his dad should be out by now, yes.

They have asked me (through email) some follow-up questions regarding some of the Emporia evidence. That was during the first week of July, and I haven't heard from them recently. Probably working on a different section now.

Friends, I'm all for digging into his unrealistic running claims, but the last couple of pages around his stories of abuse have got fairly difficult to read. I can understand his behaviour might cause you to doubt every word he's ever said on any subject, but I'd question whether this is the correct road to go down when it comes to his childhood.

I understand you might see it as all being linked, all being one big lie, but personality I think he'll be finished when this is all concluded, and will be back working in a car parts business. It can end there.

I agree with you more or less. But I do think there is an argument for it, that he is the one who disclosed it publicly and sells a book and a brand based on it, so why should it be so taboo or not allowed to be verified? That said I think there is likely truth to it. It would be ballsy to lie about something that could so easily be refuted (sister, father, mother, etc.)

Rob and company are parading his supposed child abuse publicly for profit. It is totally fair game to investigate it, especially in light of all the other lies. Why would we not investigate this angle? It makes no sense at all not to question it. Rob posted a picture of himself zipped up in a suitcase for laughs, for freaking sakes. You just don't do that if you were really abused in a suitcase.

I understand that, I'm just suggesting that a LetsRun thread might not be the best place for investigating claims of child abuse. Digging into Strata data, prompting Laz to spend time on the road, looking at issues of pace and elevation, looking into his claims around his first marathons, PBs etc - yes, go for it, just maybe leave it there. I'd expect that when the investigation finds him to have been lying about this run, the media will start looking into more aspects of his life. Here's had enough glowing coverage over the years from serious UK newspapers, that when they will smell blood and suspect they might have been duped, they'll find great joy in tearing him down. That's one thing we do very well over here, we love a riches to rags story!

(Personally I find the way he speaks about recovery from abuse to be troubling and unhelpful. I've frequently heard him say that how one moves forward is a choice, that you can choose to let it hold you back, or to get up and get on with your life. I find that to actually be a really damaging thing to say. We know what he says about his childhood, so if someone who lived through abuse hears his story and his attitude, but struggles with their recovery, how does that make them feel? It's OK to not be able to just put it behind you. It's OK to need years of professional support. Being generous, and believing everything he says, it's still a really callous thing to say. And I say this all having had a wonderful childhood, but having worked professionally with some pretty damaged people.)

So it's OK to let widely read "media start looking into more aspects of his life" but not LetsRun, interesting.

Also, if you put something out there in to the world for consumption there's a good chance it's going to be regurgitated, only a fool would thing otherwise.

If LR finds false non-running info about RY it just helps to build the case that he's a liar and cheat, hard luck for him, don't put it out there if you don't want it investigated.

He has made a living and enough money to swan off on very expensive trips on the back of stories about abuse.

As he has lied about EVERYTHING in his life so far, i am all for finding out if the abuse is all lies too.

This arsehole needs totally investigating. Every single aspect of his life that he has used to sell books and make money.

No, i wouldnt feel bad. An investigation isnt an accusation.

We are now simply investigating his child abuse claims.

I don't see how he can prove its true, unless he goes to the police and reports historic abuse.
