Mobile phones, whether Android or Apple, contain lots of tracking data, & usually tag all your images with location data etc.

What they can then compare is the number & date/time of sync's with the blocks of run data available.

The simplest answer is yes there were mistakes made, not by riding in the RV or doing any form of cheating but by not having everything in place properly. Everything including the crew were put together within 2 weeks. the only things that was sorted before hand was the route, live tracking and the potential additional crew that were coming out in America.

The crew were not up to speed on how to upload the GPS data to tom-tom and truth be told I was not either as I have never used the tom-tom upload system before. Uploads were done, every so often for various reasons but mainly because the internet access was limited on the route that we had chosen. All we did was plug the watch in and it uploaded automatically. We then proceeded to delete the files from the watch in order to have new space for more data. The heart rate was never switched on to save battery and yes this would have been a good idea to have on this would have been a benefit for the data recordings.

In terms of uploading it to social media, it was the general opinion that it was not a major issue as every run was written on the log. We then posted the millage from time to time like most other runners who attempted this run and the data was for GWR to view and decide. Everything about this run is with or on its way to the investigators looking into my run.

Is there things that I have learnt and I would change for next time, yes there are many. From a way bigger crew, better gps recording with correct set up i.e. Heart rate (this feature was not switched on due to saving battery) etc, 24 hour video recording, better care of my body and so on.

Not a red flag for doctoring. I'm pretty sure Rob did not have a Strava account when this fiasco began. He signed up for one after people started asking for data. TomTom will automatically sync your runs to Strava if you tell it to, but it will only do it for new runs as you finish them. Older workouts need to be uploaded manually by downloading GPX files from TomTom and uploading them to Strava, those workouts will say "Device: GPX".

We went over this before, you share individual sessions but not at the profile level. It would be good if he shared each session but you would have to store all the links as the site won't tie them to the profile.
Note that even TomTom doesn't give you a cadence graph, only the session average figure. From what I can see from github it stores cadence data points in the ttbin file but at upload it just aggregates them into a single figure.

It is a tough race with 3,000ft of climbing but I'd say i was in shape to do about 18:30 5km and was running 30 mpw max at the time following years of h/s problems before upping mileage for 6 weeks to join a friend. I'm no marathon runer either. My 2nd race was a marathon at 18 then I never did another one until over 40 only running this becasue my feet are shot for the roads
Was he MarathonManUK by this point?
Is his poor level of performance / fat physique the worst return on 182 miles per week in the history of running?

The 'cadence' data might not be transferred from the TomTom servers to Strava.
Devices don't upload direct to Strava, they go via the manufacturers sync system.

I believe RY may be mildly dyslexic, as his written English is not great but he is clearly a skilled communicator. Picking holes in his written English doesn't really prove a lot, to be fair. Hence why he had a ghostwriter for his book?

The TomTom watch Skins gave him measures cadence. So if it's not showing on data, he must have manually removed it in order to hide the fact the watch was only measuring the mileage travelling in the RV
