The way the TomTom watch I have works as I have tested is (same watch as he has).

When you do an activity its obviously stored on the watch. When you connect to the laptop it will attempt to Auto-sync to the TomTom Server and it's goes into your online account. If that is successfull it also makes a copy locally on the laptop in the c:\users\username\TomTom mySports directory as a .ttbin file under the unique name of that watch. (you can re-export files from here)

What it does to the data on the watch can't be seen/deleted/altered. If as he describe a few times he has no internet, it will simply sync next time - I tried this by disabling my wifi and doing numerous activities. Once I turned on wifi again eventually and plugged it in, all my old activities transferred.

Even if you could delete an activity on the watch(which you can't without a factory reset) you would have to completely ignore the on screen message telling you that your activity did not transfer. After a transfer the watch should still maintain summary data but just activity total / duration (but no detail).

You can delete activities from the mysport Server which I'm sure would be his smart move to remove all dodgy evidence. I guess you could also delete the local file copies if you feel like it to make sure it can't be re-uploaded and factory reset the watches (hope he is not reading this).

It's my opinion the investigators will only have what RY has not deleted from his TomTom account and maybe summary data on the watch unless he has done a reset.

Had he wanted to faithfully upload the data each day after each run, and he found he had no internet, he COULD have still used some kind of portable internet, either on laptop or phone?

So he had no excuse for not uploading data each day, and certainly not for waiting for days after he abandoned the run, making the excuse he didnt always have internet.

He had enough internet for twitter and facebook and to get the data onto the TomTom site!

I suspect he, and all his team reads this very closely - be careful!

Yes, their portable wifi hotspot would work - and going by his TomTom screenshots did work throughout the run.

I guess I was under the assumption the investigators would only have access to his online accounts and not the laptop/watches.

If somehow they did have access to them and they were wiped that would be 100% proof.

Skins gave him the watch, right. So they should demand it is submitted to the investigators.

If this was a police investigation they would demand the watch and laptop!

You are right, the investigation brief says "any device" used needs to be handed over. I would imagine this has happened already, if the investigation indeed started July 1. He has already had plenty of time to delete stuff.

The story on facebook the other day made no sense and was clearly lies. So we are to believe he creates 6 or 7 activities in 1 day of varying distances, but only 1 or 2 of them don't upload that evening because of bad internet? .....hmmm....sure, those 20kb files must have overloaded things.

He should have google searched "can I manually delete activities from my TomTom". Few seconds later he may have realized that wasn't a great lie to tell.

I don't understand why he should supply cadence data, that holds only for cycling, or I miss something?

At a basic level, it will show a cadence of 160-180 for a run, and approximately 0 for a ride in the RV.

With a bit more processing, it's also possible to see whether the cadence matches the running terrain, i.e. up/downhill, road vs trail ( just in case Rob is planning to paste a steady 180 cadence into his GPX files - it's not that easy to fake ).

It is a tough race with 3,000ft of climbing but I'd say i was in shape to do about 18:30 5km and was running 30 mpw max at the time following years of h/s problems before upping mileage for 6 weeks to join a friend. I'm no marathon runer either. My 2nd race was a marathon at 18 then I never did another one until over 40 only running this becasue my feet are shot for the roads

I'm in his FB group and asked him about his pb's and ultras in uk. He responded back on ultras but gave no info on his pb's. Hi mates on fb think pb's

don't matter and then start snidely commenting that their pb's (scraping under 2 hours for a half on some short unregistered course are not on PO10

Post has been up for 2 wks and non of his fans have managed to produce one back up to his claimed pb's of 30:47 1:08 and 2:41. He or one of his mates put these on wiki and they were up there for a year so if false he could have taken them down.

His own page still mentions 30:47 although is very unclear. He has his 5km pm down for a downhill section of the London marathon. He go to to half way in 1:22 then tanked to 3:08

Looking at his London marathon with better pacing he could probably dipped 3 hours but poor pace judgment and setting of miles too fast is hardly a quality an ultra runner wants.

As for his ultra performance 100miles in 23 hours while admirable is not going to be eouth to run 60 miles + per day for wks on end

That would be particularly stupid even for him since TomTom doesn't insert running cadence data into a GPX file. This is a sample data point from one such file:

And the source I was trying to post produces the same thing. No cadence/stride into is being output.

I am not even sure I have seen a Run on Strava with cadence, maybe I saw one once from a Fenix? If someone has an example can they post a link to the session please?
