Of course you don't understand this. The terminology used by Trashcan of a crime of "omission" or "commission" is not the terminology of the law. It is popular usage. The legal ingredients of the crime of homicide that matter are the act itself - which in this case is the death of a person - and the causative relationship that the accused has with that death, combined with their state of mind or "intent". That is it. Negligence resulting in a person's death can also be a homicide - chiefly manslaughter. As I said previously, you are out of your depth here.

I think most cops in major cities are trained with how to deal with opiate overdoses. To not do this would be a crime of omission , although it certainly could be argued that kneeling on him exacerbated the symptoms of the OD, which would be a crime of commission.

You are mixing terms in a way not required by the law. The issue is solely whether Chauvin caused Floyd's death or contributed to it in any way - and his intent. The failure to act in an appropriate way - such as through negligence - when a person's life is at issue can result in culpability, and that is legally aggravated if it included actions that increased the likelihood of death.
