Robert Young fakes run across America

OK. so he lists 29 people that were with him. Who cares? Obviously he did not have 29 people with him during the night out west when he did his best cheating. At that time it was probably just 3 people in on it.

Secondly, he says one lesson learned is the need for a bigger crew next time. What a crock of crap. And who is this crew of people that is listed on his web site? What function did all these people perform if they weren't any part of the RV Riding or run?

He's lied, we all know he's lied, he knows we know he's lied. He's finished on the British running scene, no Race Directors worth their salt will give him a free race entry anymore. That wont bother him though, he doesn't need to convince "runners" that he's innocent, just the general public. They have no idea what it takes to run X amount of miles in Y amount of minutes. He'll get them to continue funding his bucket list & his pursuit of fame, hell, he's doing it for the kids right.

To me it's obvious what his game will be.

1. Delete all dodgy runs and data permanently and claim its was an accident

2. Train like crazy for a legit 6-day run to attempt to prove he is legit. Attempt to use this one result to brush every other dodgy run under the carpet. If he turns up to run, he will weigh 10kg less.

A lack of data should be enough evidence.

Yep. He won't actually be training for a 6-day or 10-day event; he'll be training to try and give 2 or 3 fairly impressive days, and then, when he's totally destroyed, drop out with some 'injury.'

Explain how you run a sub3hour marathon at altitude during a supposedly 80mile run.

actual running time and elapsed running time are 2 different things on the gps data - my running time might be a 2:40 marathon but with the elapsed time ie breaks etc during the running time might be 4 or 5 hours - which would mean my actual marathon time or half marathon time is much slower

Wait, so you are saying you ran intervals with a total duration of ~40 km at night in a speed of faster than 3:45min/km but with some stops in between?

For example

- 4x10km in 38min

- with a pause of 45min

That is what you did during a 80mile day at altitude?

But just writing up the runs in a log book was fine for his previous 370 runs in 365 days, 373 miles without sleep, and Trans American Footrace. He's never had to provide proof before, so why should he have to start now? Just a bunch of haters.

This lame reasoning--which many of the fanboys will fall for--fails to account for strava calculating a best effort half marathon in 1:12 in this piece of the data, a sequence of 13.1 consecutive miles in 1:12 at altitude in which elapsed time and running time are one and the same:

...also bearing in mind his 5K pb logged on power of 10 is 18:55 (ie outside of 6 min/miles). So to stick in a half marathon in the middle of the challenge in 72 mins is too amazing. Ok it's probably a 3% down gradient so you could probably stick in a few miles at speed, but 13 back to back?

All he really cares about now is fooling his thick fans who know nothing about what it takes to run the ridiculous times he's claimed. They dont WANT to believe anything different and just dont understand his data anyway.

So if he can continue to fool them they will keep giving him money.

Skins might drop him, but he'll just get the public to help him pay for races abroad.

I guess studies have been done on the psychology of religious cults. We need to find out how you remove people from these things!

I doubt that once Skins drops him that his fans will contribute enough to fund a very sustainable lifestyle.

Patience ... He is done for all intents and purposes. He does not have the talent to do anything special endurance-wise.

The psychology is very interesting. I think the sad truth is simply that "evidence" often does not matter and does not change people's beliefs. You can see it in every walk of life. One of his supporters literally said "I don't give a shiny sh!t about his data" or whatever. Literally, a 1:56 mile does not matter. It goes in one ear and out the other. It's like being told "the earth is round" and hearing it as "blah blah blah I am a science freak who is a jealous hater of the Pope who has declared the earth is flat". Some of these people will never ever get it.

There is no chance data can be "lost'

He must have been in some special spots of the country where only facebook and twitter worked but all other internet would not work.

When I just used my TomTom offline it came up with a big notice about failing to transmit data to TomTom. Guess they didn't manage to read that and deleted the data off the watch anyway (who believes that?)

Still needs to explain how some of the screen shots of his TomTom data disappeared and didn't find it's way to Strava.

There will always be fools with blind faith that you cannot do anything with.

Getting through to lots of his hundreds of supporters in the uk is an important issue.

Since his last post in his group he has allowed the negative comments to stay.

I think this, along with Lindley's comments might have got through to some of his fans and changed their loyalty somewhat.

I hardly see the relevance of mocking a mental illness that has no relevance to this. Nor has anyones marital status.
