You're a bit late to the party pal, we've been all through that.

Several things made me lose initial confidence in Fuller. (1) He wrote that essay about honesty and integrity regarding Dustin Johnson's golf victory in the midst of the whole RY scandal that had gone viral. He had to know about all the online criticism of RY. The golf essay sounded like an ill-fated attempt to stifle an online crapstorm without addressing the real core issues of the integrity of RY. (2) Initially, it sounded like he didn't want to release the data but only have his own self-appointed investigator look at it and render a decision, without any indication that anyone else would get to see the data. That sounded like a ploy to avoid exposing his own employee and endorsed athlete to actual examination. Only when he was pressured by online criticism did most of the data get released, but still not all of it. There are still huge gaps in the sections where much of the cheating is suspected.

I did regain some confidence once some data was released and when I heard that Pielke and Tucker were appointed and that they will make an official report on the matter.

But unfortunately, it sounded like Fuller had to be pressured into making the decisions he should've made on his own since he has been so outspoken about honesty and integrity in sports.

I understand that Fuller is not a long-distance runner or endurance athlete so the paces and distances we're yelling about are about as clearcut to him as long-distance swimming paces would be to me. And I also understand that he would need to have solid legal grounding to un-endorse RY. But still, it sounded like Fuller had to be pressured into making the decisions that he eventually did with the data and the appointment of Pielke and Tucker.

Skins is using this transcon attempt as R&D for new product line. Nike did the same with Flywire, Lunar, Flyknit, etc. Adidas did this with Boost. Skins has apparently prototyped a new fabric, which will allow one to run 5:08 miles at elevation during an 80 mile day. It is called SausageRollTech. Apparently, Skins' sponsored athletes have been testing SausageRollTech extensively, and you can expect SausageRollTech to make an appearance in Rio. To me, it seems that Fuller is just using the "profile campaigns against soccer and cycling's world governing bodies in recent years" as a cheap marketing tool.

RY's run was just a little side kick which went awfully wrong.

Yep, he was VERY vocal when a cycling journo and the (former) head of the cycling association clashed (twisted story, omg).

He also put money where is mouth was IN A LETSRUN WAY with oy a certain probability that he had to pay anything. I think he drives on a David vs Goliath constellation.

Yet he always remained some type of keyboard warrior and his "causes" seemed always a bit contrived to me. To me it was a bit weasel-y.

"Actions " were measurable in a marketing sense (page views on that water cooler blog, retweeted shout-outs and such).

I personally was turned off from the brand.

I put him in the drawer of used car salesmen.

I'm saying the UK tabloids are perfectly aware of what's going on -- that they read The Guardian, that they were contacted weeks ago -- but that, for whatever reason, they either do not care or are giving RY a pass.

My own personal troll is either Dustbin or Michael Ryan Sphincter or some other of RY's fanboys/girls.

So how did I refuse to allow a word against him? The collective admin decision on the URC was to allow the main thread only and not to allow spin offs. As you know fb is a 'top down' page and if we allowed more than one thread it could quickly swamp the board ensuring nothing else was visible on there. As for not allowing a word against him that's just false. What I, and the other admins, didn't allow was personal attacks against other members, insults to their characters and obviously false accounts to hide behind fake profiles to commit those attacks. For what it's worth I don't believe RY has done what he said he has but I think you'll find it difficult to find either me or any of the other admins giving a personal opinion.

So if you could point where I defend RY I'd be grateful. And yes, I do get forums. I also get cowards hiding behind pseudonyms because they're afraid to say things face to face.

Why? As someone who has an interest in the sport, surely you have the duty and responsibility to maintain the integrity?

If you saw a world class athlete taking illegal drugs you would have a duty to speak out about that, I don't see any difference here. By refusing to criticise someone who has a high profile, when many are attacking them then you give the illusion of condoning their activities. When this is added to you deleting other comments, then it is easy to see how you could come across as a supporter.

I absolutely do care about our sport and when the Mark Vaz episode occurred in the UK I was very vocal about it, even to the extent I wrote about it before any of the UK press caught up to it. That resulted in me getting my fingers burned with the threat of being personally sued. With the RY episode the UK came to it a lot later than the US and it had already exploded pretty vehemently over here ( the US) and from looking at the RY thread on here it as clear that it had the potential to become very nasty and very personal. We took the decision to facilitate the discussion but not to wade in personally. Rightly or wrongly that's the decision that was made. The RY conversation polarised the community like nothing I've ever seen on the URC and I felt that to referee it I/we had to stay separate from the discussion.

The only comments that were deleted were personal attacks on other posters, there's far more latitude on here than the URC for that and it's something we don't tolerate.

So because you were afraid of being sued, you kept silent when Rob was destroying our sport?

You know, Gary, truth is an absolute defence: "a person cannot be made to pay damages for a defamatory statement, if the person can show that the statement is true".

The way URC has handled the Rob Young fiasco shows that you have very little integrity.

I hadn't bothered watching that before, but now having done so I can't see how anyone with half a gram of common sense could say he was either comfortable or being truthful. His body language, his eye contact (and where he looks away to when he's not talking to camera) are classic tells of someone lying, trying to appear honest, and accessing not real memory but constructed memory. There's a good basic article about it here, and whilst this video clip isn't in itself enough to prove lies, it's a big piece of circumstantial evidence.

Michael should never take up poker if he wants to win.
