Seriously! Roderick, your shtick is getting old. I'm almost positive there is more to your starting this thread than you are willing to let on. But for starters, you have a weird need for "proof", as if the case isn't iron-clad enough yet even though you seem to have examined all the evidence microscopically. Who cares about the exact details of how he did it? I'm afraid it will turn out to be something rather dull and predictable, involving alternate means of transportation and possibly accomplices, just like everyone has been saying all along. Sometimes you treat him as if he has to be some kind of evil genius to pull this off. But it's not like he's creating wormholes from exotic matter, or warping the space-time continuum, or anything far out like that. He's just cheating by cutting parts of the course. If you ask me, it wouldn't be that hard to do, if that's what you were into.

I am somewhat curious to hear your real story. As I recall, you had some pretty good age-graded results yourself, and you run in the same area as Meza, so maybe you figured out that he was cheating, didn't like the fact that he was beating you through deceit (understandable!), and wanted to expose him by posing as a fan (why that route, I have no idea).

I don't understand your continued musings about your need for a "role model". Jesus, man, aren't you like 60-plus yourself? You sound like a teenager, desperate to find a cool role model, like maybe that dude Todd who drives the Camaro, smokes, cursed out the principal and got suspended, and gets loads of chicks. Except, like, the aging male runner-nerd version of that.

If I bore you, skip my posts. I have figured Frank was guilty since seeing the video on page 3. Watch it a few times. Finally, I started this thread because I thought it was shocking that Frank could run below Ed Whitlock (and Gene Dykes) twice with no media mention. NO other reason. Believe me, I have read all the posts stating various reasons this could not be legit. Frank is not in my age group. I enjoy competition. I follow how good 60 year old can be. I will never catch runners like Martin Rees or Keith Bateman. But I could improve (or outlast) some of my fellow 60 year olds. My best guess is that Frank has branded himself as a star masters marathoner, and has let it get way out of hand. He promotes for Kaiser as a doctor and star runner. When I run a race, I remember the other runners who I have run with. I just can't believe that noone has not said something about Frank and his leaving courses and re-entering courses...or questioning what this slower older guy is doing with them at various parts of these courses. And none of them saw his time after a race without questioning it. So let this be my last posting you need to read. Believe me there are some posters whose posts only get a quick glance from me.

Since this is about a marathoner., there is a 60 year old named Jeff Young who ran 2:41:35 at CIM last year.

Those 2014 CIM pictures are of interest -

1) Is he wearing a bikini top underneath his shirt? What is he wearing under? Is that why he wears his number on a belt (other than to trade with other runners) so that he can change tops quickly and go incognito?

2) What is coming out at the bottom of his shirt? Part of his disguise underneath? It's not a towel. What is it?

3) The shoes are not those of a sub-3hr marathoner. What are they? Black and Red c9 from Target?

This is for doubler. The LA marathon photos may include video of FM cutting into the course. You would need the video for runner #22397.

That's strange how he comes to a complete stop right on the finish line. Why would you do that and isn't that dangerous to runners behind you?

That was what I noticed most. It was like a kid finishing, jumps on the finish line...and then he proudly walks off..

That was one mat Frank did not miss. He was apparently dq'd for missing mats. There were only 3 mats. (10k/half-marathon/20 miles)

He sort of does the same at Pasadena Half. Walks immediately after hitting the mat. If he's a coach, don't they teach you to run through the line. Run through the line. Don't stop.

I’ve seen those photos. Do we know there is video available for that portion?

I have Frank’s video, there’s just videos across a couple timing mats and the finish.

No ones paid for it but presumably there's video at that section based on the preview for the video offering. I guess you could ask the Greek guy on strava. He uses his full name.
