Day 2 for me. Hell, it's better than nothing... I ran 9 miles this morning and felt good, so that's something.
This is the guy that posted about losing a friend to addiction a few pages back, I don’t have a registered account.
You guys are awesome here. Can any of you speak to how/if your sobriety and life change are affecting your relationships? Had my buddy made changes and had the attitude demonstrated here, it would have brought me such joy to see him fighting and well, and I suspect our relationship would have come back to life.
Anyway, keep it going. Your efforts are respected and admired. From the outsider’s perspective, I’ll bet the people who love you are thrilled with your progress. Even the guy who relapsed, you’re fighting, you’re trying…it speaks volumes.
100 days ain’t too far off for the Three Days guy!
Great stuff, thats good progress! 80 today.

Good for you, brother. Every one of you who's trying is an example and an inspiration to someone else.

To all in recovery. 14,338 days for me.
It's been 72 years for me, but I was "lucky" enough to see, when young, how alcohol ruined my family members and I decided never to start. (As I understand it, JBiden and DTrump are also dry for the same reason.)
I have addictions in other areas and strongly sense that if I started drinking I wouldn't stop. My heart is with every one of you. Take care of yourself today.

When I have done a sober streak in the past, I was constantly looking for validation that it was having a positive impact on my life.
This time, I am much more aware of the reality that it is a lot like running: You only really notice the benefits after they build very slowly over a long period of time.
That said, my relationships are a bit better than they were when I was drinking. But a bit better each day, added up over months, is making a HUGE impact. It's just hard to see on a daily basis. And I am happier by not looking for it all the time.
I used my coaching distance as well as my own training principles a lot when i got sober. It really is playing the long game in terms of recovery.
4 years later I am so much happier and healthier. Im a better dad, husband, friend, employee, you name it. The people that would say to me that I was much more fun when drinking, i would question their ideas of fun.
4 years is brilliant and I fully see your point. 81 today.
9 weeks.

This is one of the few threads on here that's actually useful with no trolls. Please don't ruin it with your bullsh*t.
Well done!! Had decent time trial and 82 days down today. Keep it up Rooting for you!

I remember reading your original post on here. It feels great witnessing your success. Keep it up!
Thank you very much. I mean this when I say the Letsrun community and this thread has helped me immensely. I have found a greater appreciation across all aspects of life in this process. 84 today, 12 weeks!

Right back at you. The small handful of times I have been tempted to drink, I reminded myself about "three days in this time" and this thread.
Just do it--quit---you can do it. After a few days, you'll be fine. Stop thinking about it and just do it. Praying for you, man!
I'm a millennial and never started drinking in the first place. Would rather have a piece of cake.
